How many different web hosts have you gone through since inception? I was just thinking the other day and mine has been through at least six or seven ranging from starting out on Tripod (Freebie) and then going to a shared hosting account and then a virtual private server.

Been with ServINT for a couple years... doing good so far!

I host it from my house. Just a blog, so it doesn't use up much bandwidth and doesn't need to have 99% uptime.

I started one from my computer this spring/summer.

Out of curiosity, do the search engines ever pick up something like that?

Edit: nevermind, Google has found it now. Cool! :)

I have a local copy of WAMP which powers a copy of mediawiki that I use to keep track of my life.

Do you guys find your home hosting to be any good?

With a normal website, I can usually download things at 300KB/s at least. My home upload speed is 60KB/s.

I can get about 300KB/s from mine - that's 2.4mbit/s. Comcast bumped it up recently.

Stupid Time Warner. I don't get Comcast in my area because Time Warner bought the lines.

I went through 3-4 and then realized that its pointless. I used to host videos and funny shit, but with youtube it's pretty pointless.

Some of these video podcasters are saying they push out 2Gigabits a second sometimes which would cost them a pretty fortune. But they can do it for free on Stickam and other sites. Quite amazing.

I went through four I think -
1. Forget the name, started with a D
2. ATOT coop server; shut down after a year due to maintenance effort
3. SonataWeb, I think they went out of business though
4. Steadfast Networks VPS. This one seems like a winner.

I'm a newbie to webcoding so only 2. Started with a crappy webhost that need not be mentioned and moved to Bluehost which I really like.

I'm only hosting text and some images on my home website, so my crappy upload speed is fine. If you are looking to host videos or other big files, don't bother unless you got a fast upload speed.

You actually want comcast? Haven't you heard or read all the bad stories about them?

About 4 for my personal website: Hasweb, can't remember, can't remember, Dreamhost. I've been with the last one for a long time.

Only 1 host so far, ASO, but it only has been 8 months with them. Any issues I had were quickly resolved in support so I haven't felt the need to switch. I have always wanted to host it myself but bandwidth wise it just isn't physically possible.

Yeah, but they have better options than Time Warner for the same price.

I used to have about four websites, so when I started out I used to pick whatever was cheapest, they didn't bounce around too much, but eventually they were all sent to godaddy just because they are great with multiple website hosting management.

I haven't really had any problems. What are the bad stories?
