I myself always leave a decent distance between me and the next driver and always try to stay right as much as possible, but it isn't always possible or practical, esp. with some tailgating freaks or people that speed up in the *right* hand lane and don't allow me to merge into that lane.

Whatever happened to the concept of Speed Limit? It's not Speed Minimum, it's speed *limit* and if you don't want a speeding ticket you have to go *under* the speed limit.
Slower Traffic Keep Right - it's the law

Anyway, I know your type. In the 16 years I've had my license, I've driven well over a million freeway miles. Sometimes I think that I have truly seen it all. You should have your license revoked for incompetent driving skills. Let me be clear, if other drivers are impatiently passing you on your right, you are doing something very, very wrong. And the

My thoughts exactly, he needs executed ASAP.

Last time I checked there is no law that says that anyone owns the left hand lane -- at least not in my state. There are however laws against harassing people and reckless driving. I can't believe you guys think harassing people and flashing lights at people is rational. The basic fact is that you need a certain distance between you and the next person in order to have a safe stopping distance.

The other reality is that yes, I do pay attention to what goes on traffic, but if the road-hogging people show in the right hand lane too, and do their best to make it impossible to merge into the right hand lane too -- I wonder if any of you do that too.. that really helps, doesn't it if you never let people merge into the right hand lane -- doesn't it?

Having such an inflated ego that you can't even allow people to pass you isn't better driving, it's basically hazardous driving -- and it's what leads to those 20 car pile ups you hear about once in a while.

speed up or slow down, and get the fvck out of the left lane. if you know you're going to be crusing, then why not stay in the right lane at all times. don't continue to do the speed limit in the left lane while there are 20+ cars piling up behind you.

Actually because one of our state lawmakers got stuck behind one of these left lane pinheads the below law was added to the State Code:
§ 46.2-842.1. Drivers to give way to certain overtaking vehicles on divided highways.

It shall be unlawful to fail to give way to overtaking traffic when driving a motor vehicle to the left and abreast of another motor vehicle on a divided highway. On audible or light signal, the driver of the overtaken vehicle shall move to the right to allow the overtaking vehicle to pass as soon as the overtaken vehicle can safely do so. A violation of this section shall not be construed as negligence per se in any civil action.

(1989, c. 708, § 46.1-211.1.)

Unfortunately there is zero enforcement of the law.

Anyone ever actually literally push the idiot pacers out of the way? (get within 1 inch of their bumper then slam on the gas?)
Never actually tried this method myself, seen it done once and been tempted to many times though. Most bumpers today are pretty flimsy. Would that technically be hit & run? It's not exactly an "accident"...

whenever a vehicle makes contact with another piece of property, it's considered an 'accident'...you are 'supposed' to report it so that the other property owner is notified (in the case that they are not present) and that any future need for claims is documented. To some a slight blemish is a major problem.

She does not seem to realize that she is doing it. I have tried to tell her but she denies it and then it never seems to change. Now I just drive everywhere.

BTW - please don't shoot my fiancee.

You should try harder at trying to keep her in check...although I hate people who go so slow in left lanes, driving aggressively will sooner or later lead to an accident (i don't care how good people *think* they are -- everyone thinks they drive well, and i've seen that in reality most of them suck..they just have an over-inflated ego).

For example, I have an uncle who is scared of driving more than 1 mile away from his house (no joke), he is scared of changing lanes (so he doesn't), he literally rests his chest on the steering wheel while driving, keeps jerking the damn car (it shouldn't take more than 5-10 seconds to get used to a different car, not a couple of years), and just yesterday he had so much room to make a k-turn, yet all he did was move up one centimeter, move back one centimeter, etc etc for around 15 mins. Then, to top it off, he keeps bragging that he's an awesome driver. Of course, this is an extreme case, but quite humorous nonetheless.
