We can assume you politely provided your guidance to her on how to make her code more efficient and hence help develop her skills?

Maybe if she was still here I would have.

Oh, did she move on to a better job than being someones soon-to-be-outsourced code monkey? Good for her.

She's gainfully unemployed as an incompetent person with no useful skills, but a degree!

Making a thread on ATOT about how incompetent somebody is is way funner than trying to help somebody. 😀

WTF was she doing? I mean, WTF, man?

Honestly, I don't know. I didn't rewrite it because it was long. I rewrote it cause it wan't working, and I looked at the code sort of like 😕, and then just started over.

Kinda looks like she knew what she was doing to me, she just isn't as efficient as a coder as you are. You can't expect her to be a genius like yourself if she's just graduating.

From reading almost all of your posts, notfred, it certainly feels like you live a tough life , having to deal with so many dumb people.

About 1/10 of ATOT threads seem to be complaining about someone else's behavior, so I guess I'm not alone.

have you seen the level of intelligence the public school system is churning out these days?......they're the same ones going to college and getting degrees.
SIGH

Uh, people get better at something with time and experience. Though they will always have a hard time doing that when they have pissy people looking down on them.

I was perfectly efficient and knew everything the day I got out of school.

Edit: 6000

I am not sure what the point of that was. I wasnt criticizing you for posting it. I was just saying that it's a very sad life you lead, being so much better than others you are forced to deal with.

This code was written by a graduating senior in Computer Science

This is my replacement for her crappy code

Someone with a computer science degree should write better code than this. Her code is *three times longer* than mine, and a ton more confusing. I shouldn't have to redo other people's work.

Note to anyone hiring programmers: jsut because an applicant has a degree, doesn't mean they're not totally useless.

Edit: Sorry I complained. Apparently having to redo someone else's work because they failed to do it properly in the first place isn't a valid reason for complaint. I apologize.

problem found

That's a very interesting way of not criticizing me, by calling my life sad.

I did not mean 'sad' as in 'you sad sad man." I meant depressing, unfortunate.

Woohoo you shortened an ugly switchyard of if-statements...? If I got stuck with something so mundane looking, I would've taken the obvious/stupidest path too.

I mean if her code didn't work that's one thing, but I doubt that this little thing isn't really going to increase performance any time soon, esp if PHP does any kind of partial evaluation on compile (does it? I know zero about PHP).

Past that, I don't have much experience, but I've found that hardly anybody in the software field writes something perfect every time. Hence why you have co-workers to consult to talk to about 'I'm stuck on _____' or 'Can you see a better way to do _____' or whatever. Then you learn something. Nobody is like "hahaha good job sucking at programmning, retard", even if the problem was simple because everybody fvcks up. But that's just my experience. (Then again, I've never professionally worked with anyone you could even begin to call incompetent...)
