Yeah, I pretty much expect that from Newegg, its the "less informed" traders on here i'm referring to...

I've never bought any from a private seller. That wouls suck to receive it damaged because it wasn't packaged properly!

Never bought a CPU from a private seller, and I'd never buy a used one. NIB only.

I'll fess up to sending CPUs in padded envelopes with bubble wrap.

They were from freebies, though.

Okay, I know I'm not supposed to bump my own thread this much, so the mods can lock it if they want. I bought a CPU on HardForum, and asked if there were any chips or nicks on the core. He said it didn't. I sent the money. I receive it in a padded envelope, with the CPU just wrapped up in bubble wrap. I wipe the top of the core with a bit of ArctiClean, to get through all the thermal compound on it, and see a corner of the core is chipped off. I didn't even bother to install it. I msg'd him, and told him I'd like a refund, as it was not in the condition he said it was, and he said I had to ship back first to get refunded. So why should I have to send it back first. I trusted him with my money when I bought it, Why can't he trust me enough to send back my money first. What do you guys/girls think?

It cant get much worse than that. You know, if they just taped it between two small pieces of card board and dropped it in a padded envelope, it'd still be safe from static at least...

I would do the same thing if I was in his position

Seriously, there should be a sticky'd thread on how to ship a CPU properly...this seems to be a very common problem Anti-static bags are cheap as hell on Ebay....just type in a search for Anti-Static Bags and you'll find TONS of cheap bags. I just think something like that should be a requirement for anyone serious about trading on here. What do you guys think?

When I sold a CPU to someone on the forum, I just placed it back in its original packaging and then placed it in a box with lots of packing peanuts.

Never bought a second-hand CPU, but I had a guy ship a video card wrapped in a wal-mart bag in a shoebox. Had like 100 Heat too.

That's ridiculous and unexcusable. I hope the card worked or at least got your money back.

i bought a cpu off these forums and it came wrapped in an anti static bag with all pins on the corners bent. fortunately i was able to get them good enough where the cpu would sit in the socket. still works to this day
