I'm thinking about making some chicken marsala, but I'm only 19 and have no one who's over 21 who can buy marsala wine for me.

Is cooking wine an exception to the under 21 age limit?

So they learn to cook with more basic recipes, only certain types of foods will require a "cooking" wine anyway so just work around that. Otherwise, find a supplier and buy a 12 pack of a good wine at some point and have that serve you well for the next year. Like anything else, learning the basics/fundamentals of cooking will always pay off later. I'm trying to add another sentence but my drunk brain is refusing...my bad. see you all in the morning.

You can buy cooking wines regardless of age, because they usually have so much salt added to them that it would make you sick before you could drink enough for it to do anything. Or at least that's my theory. I bought cooking wines when I was like 18, no problems.

I remember cooking with wine before turning 21 but I don't remember it ever being an issue...

You have to be 21 to buy wine. What you use it for is immaterial. Anyway, who's going to cook with wine and not drink some of it while they're at it? Then again, if you buy the salty crap, why bother even eating the end result? GIGO.

They sell cooking wine right in the grocery store by me. I'm pretty sure the person at the register wouldn't even think to check id on it.
Never tried though since I'm well over 21.

Anyone who is 19 and can not find a single person over 21 to buy them alcohol needs to get out of the house way more often.
