It is my sincere belief that people who argue about creationism and abortion (the two issues overlap to a big degree) are really just expressing frustration about their own marginalization in this modern life. And, the big institutions which lock them out often do hold more "progressive" views, and often are old monied interests.

Are there two of you? One who (as now) writes coherently and wittily, and another who sounds like he's stoned out of his mind? It's very weird.

Edit: And so as to not sidetrack this thread, I think that bible-thumpers just have a strong need for a pre-defined, ultimately-just reality. I've known plenty who are quite successful both financially and in their personal lives, not marginalized or bitter.

I think that people who worry enough to post threads like this are driven by their own marginalization of life. :p

No. People who argue about Creationism do so because of their lack of knowledge of the Scientific Method or willful ignorance. People who argue about abortion can still fall into those categories, but many do have legitimate philosophical arguments (not that I agree with them).
