People who abuse the "10 items or less" checkout lines

Anyone else notice that people who go in the express checkout lines with three times the maximum number of items are always fat? :whiste:

Only in Walmart, I have rarely seen in in other stores. But when I have, Its generally people who are fat, low self esteem.

In Walmart I don't mind, I feel its my own fault that I am in that store, can't complain. you cannot step in dirt and then complaint about getting dirty.

I cant stand it when they get inl ine with a shopping cart that is beyond full. The cashiers need to not let them get in the line.

I worked at walmart (hmm over 20 years ago) as a cashier. I hated it when someone would come into the express lane with a full cart. All you can do is remind them that this line is for people with under 20 items. You can't tell them to go to another line.

When i see someone with more then 20 items i point them out to my kids and mention that is why they need to do well in school. I tell them that person can not read or count since they have more then 20 items and are in a express lane.

Most people around me will laugh and some will say something about them also. I have never had the person respond to me though.

Lol, I feel the same way about Walmart. I almost never go, but if I do, I know the flesh-bulging trash circus I'm in for.

Walmart attracts a distinct and unique demographic -- ignorant, ill bred, bent and broken-gene, schneiderguy types. Even dollar stores are better. I adjust my expectations accordingly.

And they give you a nasty look when you say something about it, like you are the one in the wrong line.

When I was in a particularly bad mood and I got in a line with such an offender, I walked up and slid in between that person's cart and the person in front of her. So, she says, "No cutting!".

I turned around, pointed at the "10 items or less" sign above my head and said,

"Oh, are we all following the rules now?"

She moved to another line.

As schneiderguy is now one of my official AT friends, I must stick up for him.

Stop pointing out all schneiderguy's flaws! That's just mean. He already knows he's ignorant, ill bred, bend and broken gene, as well as having bad BO, is totally unlikeable, disgustingly ugly, and no woman will ever love him. We don't need to highlight all those failings of schneiderguy, nor the many many other weaknesses in his character and personal grooming habits. :colbert:

(I got your back schneiderguy. ()🙂 )

How do you know they have low self esteem? 😕

I had a nearly full cart with a couple cases of water, cat litter, cat food, and a few other large items. Got in the express lane which was 20 items or less, someone felt the need to yell at me about having a full cart in the express lane. They were pretty irate over it. I counted every item out aloud one by one for them emptying the cart right at 20. My simple math skills > theirs. Meh, nothing to blow a gasket over, especially when you're wrong...

People who obviously have double/triple the limit should be kicked out of the line or refused service.

Do individual grapes count towards the limit?

Also, how many people are annoyed with the poor grammar of "xx items or less"? It should be "xx items or fewer"
Some stores do it correctly (all the Walmarts I've been to have done it correctly, Target does it incorrectly) but most say "less". Is the cost of printing 1 morer letter worth the grammatical error?

Wal-mart worst 10 items of less abusers:

Those buying 100 cans of cat food in the 10 items of less, there response I'm buy 10 each of the same type of cat food.

Those buying 10 items or less buy paying by check and then taking forever to write the damn check

Those buying 10 items or less buy paying with a welfare check, these take forever to validate or the cashier is clueless how to process it.

Once seen a family with 2 shopping carts packed with stuff on the 10 items or less line. They even had cases of soda under the cart.

I notice usually it's people who have accents and pretend not to understand English.
But, the majority are fat. That said, the majority of Americans are fat.

I'll add this, but this may be exclusive to lower east side manhattan:

Going to pathmark, and on the 15 items or less is a chinese family, mom, grandma and 20 little chinese kids, each having 15 items. Mom pays for her first 15 items, hands welfare/foodstamp card to next of kin in line. It drives me fucking nuts.

Its not a law, its a store policy.
People break actual laws all the time and nothing happens to them.

Gonna have to suck it up.

More like courtesy.

A ballsy cashier could ring up only the first 10 items, close the transaction and tell the person to take the remaining to the end of the line and repeat!

I don't mind if they know how to use it. I myself have broken that rule on occasion but I'm quick about it because I know how to use the scanner. It's irritating to see someone at the self checkout with a cart full of items and they spend like 1 mins to scan 1 item.
