I only do it to asses that try to pass on the right. i would let you pass, but if are going to flash me and tailgate me when i am going more than 15 mph over the speed limit i will be annoying back to you!

The only time I find it acceptable to block someone passing on the right is when there are cars in front of you. Otherwise, either let them pass or get in the right lane.

What if you're already going over the speed limit and someone wants to be even more excessive than you? How is not allowing them to be Speed Racer on a normal 2 lane road a bad thing? :p

Because it's not your job to control the speed of the highway. Get in the right lane, or don't be pissed when they pass you on the right.

You should actually read what I write next time so you don't write garbage like this.

Now, if you're completely bewildered as to why I call your post "garbage," perhaps you need to realize that a "normal 2 lane road" as I so called it is not a highway.

I misunderstood what you meant by "normal 2 lane road". I though you meant two-lanes on a side. I haven't been on a two-lane road that allows passing in years.

I always try to stay 5 mph above the speed limit in the lanes on the highway on the right two lanes (4 lanes north, 4 lanes south) to avoid conflicts like this :). If they have a problem, go ahead, because I am not going any faster and I'm not adjacent to the passing lane.

Of course, if I'm trying to enter another lane and the other person speeds to cut me off... No.

The worst is when the one lane road (per direction) opens up to two lanes for passing for maybe 1/2 mile or so, and every single person somehow believes that because of this additional lane, they must go faster through the passing zone. The speed limit is 55mph and so I'll get stuck behind people barely doing that when I want to go 60-62mph, and I can't pass because of oncoming cars or turns, so the passing lane opens up for a little bit only to have the person who was going 55mph automatically speed up to 65mph. So for me to pass them, I'd be going way over, risking a ticket. So I stay behind them, and as soon as the passing lane ends, they slow right back down.

What in the hell?!

This happens absolutely everytime I drive back and forth to school. It is like these people MUST speed up through the passing lane, even if they are not passing anyone. It pisses me off a lot. That is pretty much the reason that I got my only speeding ticket.

And stupid Michigan with its 55mph roads all over... that's the fastest there is within hours of me (no freeways). It can be pretty empty most of the time and going 70mph doesn't seem at all that unsafe, so it'd really be nice to have a higher speed limit so better time could be made driving.

I get the " Don't let the big truck in front of you!" routine all of the time. Its not only regular cars that do it, but semis do it to me all of the time. I drive a 40 ft long straight truck that will go at least 85. I do not ever drive that speed, but when I am going 75 in the middle lane of a three lane interstate and I go to pass some yutz and go around him on the left, they invariably speed up. Its amazing how well people's brakes work when I decide to get over about two inches from their front bumper. Then to top it off I notice that after a mile or so of battling these dummies, they decide to drop back to 60 or so and let me roll on. Semis are notoroius for doing this. I work at 2 am and usually its just us big trucks and very few cars on the road and they just like to screw with other trucks or are trying to keep awake, I guess.

Peace

Really? No straightaways with dashed lines? That's kind of odd.

What I hate is when someone goes the speed limit until they're past a passing zone, then they slow down to some obscene amount... 10 below, etc. I pretty much keep the same speed which is somewhere between speed limit and 5 above.

But what's worse is when people tailgate you in inclement weather :p.

EDIT:

But Nate, if we're talking about highways, I don't care if someone passes me unless they're being inconsiderate. Inconsiderate meaning that I'm about to approach a car that I want to pass (so essentially they'll end up passing me and the car in front of me) and instead of cutting in front of the approaching car and passing the car in front of me, I let them pass. But instead of you know... speeding up a tiny bit so I can get in before I have to slow down (since there's a slower car that I'm approaching), they just stay the same speed. Because of this, many times I'll compare the distance between my car, the car in front of me, and the car trying to pass. If I deem the car will be in my way by the time I should switch lanes to pass, I'll just get in the other lane then. Usually if I do this, I'll speed up a little as not to slow down the person that's now behind me.

I've been caught behind a car way too many times letting someone pass me first, so I rarely do that now.

I hate people that speed up. It's like, ok if you wanted to go that fast you would have before I caught up from several miles back. But it doesn't really annoy me unless they slow down once again. If they speed up just to block me and then slow down again, next chance I get the speed limits going to be broken in ways not previously imagined.

i do it sometimes if the person is driving like an idiot. i know it is counter-active but oh well, it makes me happy.

also, one of my all time fav's is to get next to a slow ass semi on the interstate and keep neck and neck with him, you would be surprised how pissed off people get, bwahahahah

I never let people pass me like that. I always get a good kick out of watching them get stranded in the right lane after I close the gap, and they end up like 10 cars behind where they started.

That happens to me every single day, on the way to and from work here in northern VA. Several times as well.

Fortunately I'm not the only person that enjoys blocking these idiots. Most of the time ALL of the traffic in the left lane will tighten up and not allow these idiots in. I love it after they try unsuccessfully 4-5 times and end up so far back I can't even see them anymore.

It really pisses me off when one of these idiots succeeds to pass on the right lane and squeeze in ahead of me, then slows down and causes even more backups.

I let people pass who pass on the left.

If someone jumps into the right hand lane and tries to pass me I speed up if there is a car in front of them in that lane to keep them from being able to pass because they shouldn't be passing on the right.

You shouldn't be blocking the left lane. It works both ways you know. If you're in the left lane and have room to get over and are not actively passing someone, you need to move the f*ck over and let the person behind you by.
