I heard it twice today, once in person (while walking through CompUSA) and another time someone said it online.

Do people really think its not offensive?

People seemed to finally stop saying 'Gyped' (sp?) as it was deemed offensive.. I heard it much more as a kid, but its no longer PC. Have they not gotten the memo about 'Jewed'?

Who really gives a crap about what's considered "PC" or not?

Exactly. It's just this kind of liberal, Political Correctivism that's dragging this country down a slippery slope of not being able to shout "fire" in a crowded theater.

91TTZ brings up a good point - who does, in fact, care about what is considered PC or not? The answer: red blooded, working class Americans, that's who. Real American's know that when someone uses words like "Jewed, Knee-Growed, Ker-Chinked or MexiSlapped" they're just words, they don't actually mean anything. They're just a way to keep people with different colored skin categorized, so those of us who live in this midwest don't get confused.

It is for exactly this reason why 91TTZ will go with me on my bi-monthly trip to Inglewood next Tuesday to talk to young children and their older brothers about my constant use of what the PC Thugs force me to call the "N" word.

From my standpoint, it has not so much to do with the "PC" of the words chosen, and far more to do with the character of the people who use them. I know that I'm not specifically bothered by the language used, I'm actually bothered by the idiocy the person using the language shows.

Whenever I hear anyone use those kinds of words, I know outright that they're not worth my time or respect. I guarantee you, the people who use that kind of language are not only stupid, they're jerks.

No no, that language has plenty of meaning behind it. It's a giant neon sign that reads "dumb-ass".

Sorry, but there's just something funny about Jschmuck2 posting in a jewish thread. 😀

I don't get it.

It just conjurs up images in my mind of Jerry Stiller, notorious for playing someone's jewish parent/in-law, bickering with everyone about who's a schmuck, which is such a jewish term.

I don't have a problem with it, but I would consciously not say it around people I knew were Jewish just in case they might get offended. My girlfriend is Jewish and I say it all the time around her though, she finds it funny.

In an effort to help change inappropriate negative connotations, I'm now going to tell people I got jewed whenever I get a great deal on something, or someone gives me free money no strings attached. 🙂

I'm Jewish. Where is the free money at? I could use some right now. 😛

No problem, next time I get jewed I'll be sure to share the wealth. 🙂

In college, a few friends of mine would use this term. I finally called them on it and they asked if I was jewish. I told them that my grandfather is jewish and as such I have jewish heritage, but it was irrelevant. They then would "jokingly" call me a jew in public. Eventually, someone either took the joke too far or the wrong ears overheard it, because my nametag on my dorm door had swastikas written on it one day. My friends mysteriously stopped using "jewed" or calling me a jew after that. Wish I would have thought of that myself, but unfortunately someone else had written it. Kind of eerie.

Who gives a shit if it's offensive. People need to lighten the hell up. I'm white and when I hear a white slur... I couldn't possibly care less. Oh, and I got jewed out of monitor on craigslist today. Oh well.

Being white means your position within western nations is so secure that you would almost never have to worry about serious racism. Minorities don't have your luxury. Racial slurs deepen stereotypes and give people the idea that discrimination is acceptable. Let the attitude run unchecked and things can get very hard for them; it wouldn't stop at just words.

Keep playing the victim and you will always be the victim.

Maybe we should give you reparations too? Would that make you feel better?

racism is racism, mean words are mean words. The color of my skin does not make it ok. You are a racist dighn. Just because we aren't as thin skinned as many other people, doesn't mean the double standard is ok.

Thats what he wants spidey, to be a victim. Sympathy is very underrated.

I probably didn't state my point very clearly. My point is that just because some random guy thinks racist words do not hurt, does not make racism acceptable. Being "thick skinned" is not a universally applicable defense. It works when you are in a position where you cannot be realistically hurt, but otherwise it's doubtful. I am not condoning selective racism.

Secondly, I do not have a victim mentality. I am Asian but I have never experienced significant racism where I live, and I wish to keep it that way. Just to clarify further, I am not one to jump at any opportunity to become offended. I just don't want our society to be on any slippery slope towards serious racism.

On a side note...I'm guessing either a lot of people are going to get banned or this thread is going to get locked instead.

In Australia, Santa cannot say "ho-ho-ho" because its considered offensive to women.

In America you can as long as you don't use Nappy headed as a prefix to it.

I think we've been gyped out of saying jewed, hell offensive words are a thing of the past... well, unless you are a total control freak that takes offense to mere words that only are a term of expression and not of hatred...

"How unkindly! I'm shocked and appalled by such vulgarities in our common society. But it must stop now! How greatly offensive that word is, oh god damnit!".... god I cannot stand these people, the word "offensive" offends me.. pfft.

beloved patriot is still used - flaw or defect.
Redskins are an NFL team.

Really, who gives a f*ck if someone's offended by the word "jewed".
