a large portion of internet users are stupid. After all, AOL feems to flurish.

It's like signing up for an Alien kidnapping without having the expectation to get anally probed.

You might want to correct your spelling there. 😛

I have to love the comments by the one end user:

""This sucks," said a Pennsylvania State University student in an e-mail interview. "I can't surf the web and I can't trade files if I uninstall the spyware. Why can't the college let me do what I want to do with my computer? The school computer security guys are being way more annoying than the spyware was.""

Yeah, because the school doesn't get to control what goes through its network at all. I mean, there's no reason they want to keep the university's data private. End users suck. Probably 90% have no friggin' clue how hard a network admin's job is. Hell, I only have the foggiest notion, but it makes perfect sense to me that they wouldn't want their traffic going through some unknown server.

If people are this easy to railroad, I'm getting into advertising.

That or I'm going to start going door-to-door with a billboard and a boner.

some of that crap is super-hard to get rid of...
I had something that wouldn't allow spybot or adaware to find it a week or so ago...
if it wasn't for a noticeable lag on the computer, plus, if I opened about 6 IE windows (to blank) and shut them all, I'd get one or two pop-up windows.. Very well hidden spyware.

spybot and adaware were useless to get rid of it, except after booting in safe mode - only then could some of the crap be found - and even then, not all of it (even with the newest updates)
hijack this worked.
