I saw the commercial for this as well, I have trouble believing people are dumb enough to buy them though. I don't have a problem with the fact that it's associated with 9/11, just that people are getting scammed out of money.

i always fail to understand the logic that it is only the consumer who can be blamed.

business can do whatever it pleases, only the consumer can be responsible.

responsibility seems to be a one way street for some.

Nah... they're all about Ax Men and Ice Road Truckers now. The History Channel is turning into Discovery-Lite.

The families of the 911 victims are multi-millionaires as a result of the terrorist attacks so why not make other people wealthy too? It's the American way.

Get off your high horse. I never said businesses were totally non-responsible.

But tell me, what harm does this item do? Is it poisonous? Does it cause cancer? Maim children? Undermine our society?

There are million upon million of "stupid" things that are sold throughout the world - truck nutz, herbal penis enlargers, Girls Gone Wild videos, etc. Why does this one rank any higher than them?

im not specifically talking abuot this item, im talking about your logic.

you find no flaw in anybody making something "nothing wrong with that", its only bad the moment its purchased and then the blame falls solely on the purchaser "now people who actually buy them".

fascinating.

Exactly.

If Friend A comes to me and says, "Hey, I just started a business making useless trinkets that people actually buy. I'm not ripping them off because I'm advertising exactly what they are purchasing, nothing more, but strangely, there are still buyers who want them," I will congratulate him on his new-found success.

If Friend B comes to me and says, "Hey, I just bought some Liberian currency with a tribute to 9-11 on it because I am uber-patriotic and I will never forget," I will roll my eyes and tell him what a tool he probably is.

I'm sure there are some true patriots who'd proudly spend $24.95 for $0.30 worth of commemorative currency.

you should pay attention to the thread titles of where you post. considering the thread title was about exploiting 9/11, this is not just about producing useless trinkets. your response provided no clarity.

your response imples simply that it was ok for the producer to exploit 9/11 - but not when someone bought it, then they were at fault.
