Canadian electric bill. a crap load of their electric generation is from hydro electric plants near niagara falls. They divert a crap ton of the flow to run them.

What the hell? Don't we own Niagra Falls? Who let the Canadians take all of our energy?

Besides, I see Canada + "Hydro bill" a naturally assume it is their monthly weed tax.

I'm fuck outa words about this. Now I know why americans arm themselves. I'm kinda sorry he wasn't home when you visited.

Um, yeah, maybe the joke went over my head, but I read that as bragging about being a douchebag and fucking with someone's property for no reason.

OP: I'd probably reply with a slightly sarcastic/snarky comment, like "No problem! I'll set my alarm to get up at 5 am just to make sure" or maybe just "LOL no." Sounds like a good group though, I bet there's a lot of good posts there (to laugh at).

Turn all the inside lights on at night, open all curtains, always be naked in your house.

(proving fritzo to be correct with my helpful hints)

So do they call their water bill electro, because most of their water comes from wells that are pumped with electric pumps?

In my development every house had a light sensored lamp post installed on the front lawn, that was hot wired. When the bulb burned out, I never replaced it. Screw em, if they wanted street lights they should have installed them.

Sunrise will soon be earlier and earlier, and the issue will resolve itself.

What do you guys call your water bill up there?

Just water bill, and at the rate we pay it's almost worth using it for hydro electric generation to get more out of it (it's flat rate not per volume). Wonder how much power I can get out of a tesla turbine being powered by about 100 psi coming out of a 1/2" pipe. There is probably a formula for that somewhere. :p I don't imagine it's much, though. Couple hundred watts maybe?

And yeah power is not mostly by hydro dams anymore, but it is kinda the traditional thing one thinks of when they think power generation. I think the name mostly comes from the fact that the power company name has word hydro in it, so it kind of caught on as being called "hydro bill".

No I just made the whole thing up. They actually get all their power from the Tesseract and the whole hydro reference is just to throw hydra off the scent. Their water comes from a magic Artesian spring.

Why would you let something so trivial bother you?

I didn't get the feeling that the OP was terribly bothered by this, although he's welcome to repudiate that. I was under the impression he just sharing on an Off-Topic forum what he thought was a dumb post to their subdivision group. As if this forum wasn't slow enough already; if people stopped posting stuff like this we'd have a few posts a day, maybe. :cryingcat:

I would get a friggen flashlight -

But they expect you to solve their problem... how insensitive of you to offer such a simple solution and not go out of your way to waste electricity, get up early, and cater to the whims of your neighbors.

I would take the passive aggressive approach, set up about 1kw worth of LED flood lights pointing directly at the sidewalk and only the sidewalk. Have it turn on at about 4am and turn off around 9am. Send hydro bill to said neighbor.

What does 1kw worth of LEDs have to do with the water bill?
