no, not really. Only in some places. In an awful lot of others, it's produced by the good old-fashioned burning of fossil fuels and/or the less old-fashioned-but-by-now-solidly-traditional fissioning of fissionable heavy metals.

In my fair city, students middle school and up used the regular city bus service, no school buses. My family lived in a suburb that got in a pissing match with the mother city over bus service so service was very limited. The bus route near my house only ran on the hour so either I would get to school very early or late. The distance via bicycle was seven miles each way. The bus route distance was closer to twenty miles.
