There's a facebook group for the sub which is occasionally used for valid purposes. Unfortunately people also like to whine on it. Like this post:

To all neighbors, please turn on your outside porch and garage lights in the morning before 6 a.m. There are some sidewalks and streets with black ice. Two of us almost fell walking to the high school bus stop this morning because we could not see the ice. It would be appreciated so that the parents and children at the stops can see where they are going.

If I knew I was going to be walking outside before sunrise and couldn't see where I was going I would get a friggen flashlight - not ask everyone in the entire neighborhood to turn on their outside lights

awww boohoo.....you need to post on that facebook page that you would be glad to turn your outside light on as long as the idiot who posted the request paid your electricity bill.....

You should light a strobe, and have some flashing lasers for them.

And comes over before 6am to turn them on since I'm not up yet

Maybe a giant search light that I can shine in their faces

Eh, with one of those suckers, you don't have to shine it on their faces. Even if it's pointed at the back of their heads, they'll see it all right.:) Do be sure to put it in a short-range motion-sensing switch, though.:p

Maybe you should post a reply pointing out that teenagers don't suffer from age-related diminution of night vision yet and that any parent who's walking their HS kid to the bus stop has bigger things to worry about than a little "black ice" on the sidewalk.;)

Huh. You sound a little like the guy in our neighborhood who we ran my buddy's jeep through his front lawn. Then later someone else threw brown paint all over the front of his his newly painted white house. He didn't live there much longer after that.

Umm, why are parents walking their children to the "highschool" bus stop?

No idea but I also see a lot of parents waiting in their cars at the stop even on beautiful, warm spring days. Its maybe a 7 minute walk from one of the bus stops to the farthest house

Are there no street lights or walkway lights?

Nope. Actually almost none of the township has them so I don't know if its a local ordinance or something

So, this is not a condo, co-op or, gated community?

All detached houses on with decent spacing between houses

Because he kept his lights off at night?

I would take the passive aggressive approach, set up about 1kw worth of LED flood lights pointing directly at the sidewalk and only the sidewalk. Have it turn on at about 4am and turn off around 9am. Send hydro bill to said neighbor.

You could always simply unsubscribe from this facebook page if it bothers you but then again this would be the easy way out I guess.

As time goes on I am seeing more and more an HOA is not the solution for me.
Its better to have a small house on your large plot of land and never see any fucking neighbors at all.

What the hell time does school start that they're walking to the bus stop before 6am?
That was my HS experience. Out the door by 0530 to catch the bus. Riding my bike cut the travel time by 2/3rds but was hard to do in rain and snow.
