Missing the point of all that. Those crazy specific codes/rules were given to show us that God requires perfection, and the kind of perfection he requires is not attainable by us.
Same with the Amalek thing. Why do you think he told them to spare nothing? Because he requires purity. This is also why they had to sacrifice for all their sins-- so that it would be ingrained into their lives and minds that sin requires a payment-- a heft one-- the giving of life. It had to be a spotless lamb sacrificed to signify the need for a perfect sacrifice that could cover not itself but someone who had sinned, if the sinner's life was to continue and the sinner was to be in a relationship with God.
God commands man to break his own commandments . NOT likely . IF this god was GOD. He done his own killing .

Thou shalt not murder =/= Thou shalt not kill.
One is a commandment. The other is not.
If you google for something like "errors in the bible" or "laws in the bible" you'll get a very long list of things that are in the bible that have been thrown out. Here are some things the catholic church believes:I am not going to school you on religion , That time is long past. But to reject the old testment goes against Catholic doctrin or dogma if you preferr.
Genesis is describing the earth as having a clear sphere around the outside. Our oceans are below the firmament. The firmament is what prevents water above the firmament from leaking into our sphere. At that time, people believed outer space was full of water and that was why the sky was blue. Because gravity pulls things "down," they thought there must be some kind of dome to protect us from that water. It's really not a bad idea, but it was wrong and we admit it's wrong.Genesis chapter 1:
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
War is murder . You wrap it in any kind of package you want to control the hearts and minds of men . But you show me were GOD said this thing . Moses Did not kill when leading israel out of egypt God did the killing .
Moses did command the israel to kill tho . But its to much for you to comprehend . But I will try . When Moses came down from sinai with the tablets the people were worshipping a Bull golden image . Moses went crazy and commanded the israeli people to kill one another .
Why was moses so pissed off? The people had not recieved the commandments yet . So why was moses so angry .
Because Moses brought in the new age . The Bull was a symbol of the past age . The new age symbol of Moses was the Rams horn this is why moses was so angry.
Christ brought in a new age So the rams horn was the past age . The Fish was the new symbol . And now that time is upon us once again , The fish symbol will be replaced by the water bearer. . This everthing ya want to know about astrogly without knowing WHY!
Dec 25 has nothing to do with the Birth of Christ , But has everthing to do with astrolgy , This doesn't mean there is no God . There were four others befor the Christ all born on dec 25 all were born of a virgin all had a Star that three wise men followed or three kings if you preferr what ever floats your boat all had 12 followers and all walked on water. The three kings or wisemen are three stars that align on dec25 pointing at what ?
You believe your fairy tells It matters not to me . Billions are going to die this time . This next alinment is special and our scientist can confirm this . But thats were I stop . Its not given that you should know more, Basicly most of ya are toast. Oh . I guess your allowed to know about THE ONE the anti christ , He is what the decievers have instore for you all 12/21 /12 is going to be really differant . The ONE will declare himself as GOD . So let him who has wisdom understand the symbol or number of the beast.
You might also look up the meaning of the word Bethlahem .
If you google for something like "errors in the bible" or "laws in the bible" you'll get a very long list of things that are in the bible that have been thrown out. Here are some things the catholic church believes:
Eating pigs (and everything at Red Lobster) is now acceptable.
Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and Issaiah say pigs are detestable and unclean. Jews and Muslims still believe pigs are unclean.
One more thing you should look at. Read Pauls Revelation As he describes Heaven . Also count how many times Paul raises himself up High by using the I word . Moses was not allowed to enter the promised land for using that word when he struck the rock that divided itself and water came forth from it. They know today were this rock is there are videos of it I have seen it its Fabtastic to see.It almost removes ones breath.
But anyway Paul says I so much I can't believe he went anywere without a mirror.
Now read Mohammed vision of heaven . LOL . There the SAME. How many false prophets After the living Word Is there to be I showed ya 2 . Maybe little Joey Smith is the 3rd . Maybe Christ was a false prophet . You have to choose not Me. .
Wow, people sin, big surprise there.
Also, Revelation isn't about future times for us, it was written to the church of the day for the church. All those prophecies were fulfilled before the destruction of the Temple and the sacking of Jerusalem in AD70.
Well for starters there were numerous prophecies foretelling Christ's coming and...none for anybody else like Mohammed.
The Quran has similar parts to the Bible because Mohammed started with the Bible and changed random stuff like God preferring Esau over Jacob (when we have manuscripts predating Mohammed by 2700 years). Islam is a Christian Heresy.
Hay I said not debating sounds good to me what ya wrote there . But yes Mohammed was foretold just as Paul was . But I like that neat little package you have that wrapped up in .
Then if I'm understanding what you're pointing to, it's that you're exceedingly misinformed about what the "atheist worldview" is. I can't say I'm entirely sure what it would be.re-read my post and previous posts, I've explained the inconsistency a few times.
I've seen those and they can't even tell the Hebrew from the Aramaic. In other words, every single "contradiction" has been the reader misunderstanding the context of what was written. But for whatever reason people have a deathwish out to disprove the Bible. If it's not true, I'm not sure why they would care so much to disprove it. Just let the Christians do their Christian thing and you do your atheist thing or whatever and move on with life.
I like to think that I can agree with you on the be and let be comment, but im afraid its not that simple. Between my friends and family only 2 people know my position on faith. My sister and a good friend, i consider a brother. My friend, doesn't know anybody in my family. My sister, obviously does. I have a real good problem, practically problem free. I could go to any of my aunts or uncles house and stay under their roof. My *very* christian aunt, wasnt always a christian. When I was a kid, she was your avg 80s new york teen, lol if that makes any sense. she was also my 2nd mom. when my mother went to work, my aunt would take me to mcdonalds in manhatten or prospect park in brooklyn. she was my babysitter. needless to say, i had an AWESOME time with my aunt. fast forward 20+ years, she becomes christian, NO PROB! I still love my aunt to death. Heres where things get fucked up. somehow she finds out im an atheist. when that happens, things change between us. I dont want to go into details, but I kind of feel "ignored". wtf did I do? nothing. I also lost a really good girlfriend to christianity. Almost in the same manner. My point is, if someone close to you decides to submit their life to god, as an atheist you may lose that person. that aint right.
Pigs-- there are three types of laws in the Torah-- Moral, Judicial, and Ceremonial. The Ceremonial laws no longer apply because Christ fulfilled them when he lived his perfect life of righteousness and then was crucified as God released his wrath on him for us (if we choose to accept this gift). Eating pigs is an example. This is covered in Acts 10 when Peter has a vision about eating animals. God lowers down a giant platform of meat and says EAT.
There was nothing inherently sinful with eating pigs until God said "this is an unclean animal, you must be clean, so do not eat of it".
So it is with every other "contradiction" people have come up with thus far that I have encountered-- they misunderstand the context and are easily refute with even the simplest understanding of what the Bible actually talks about. Scholars with PhDs study the Bible for a living to write books about it. You think you're so much smarter than a person with a PhD in theology that you, some random internet self-proclaimed knowledgeable accuser, can disprove the Bible with a few posts? Keep researching it, be careful though, others have tried and failed (and have subsequently converted to Christianity when they couldn't find any flaws or errors in it when they actually read it like they do any other book-- ie interpreting it in a way that the author would approve of).
I like to keep things simple. I would like to see your answer on how dinosaurs fit into the bible. age old argument, but interesting nonetheless. everybody has a different answer
Then if I'm understanding what you're pointing to, it's that you're exceedingly misinformed about what the "atheist worldview" is. I can't say I'm entirely sure what it would be.
I guess my own idea of it is:
There's no higher power, at least not one that's looking over us in any capacity, benevolent or malevolent. It's entirely up to us to determine our path in this sandbox of a universe we've happened to form in. It would be my hope that we choose a path of mutual cooperation and respect, and to use our knowledge and compassion (channeling some Carl Sagan here) to ensure good quality of life for all people.
Your notion of the "atheist worldview" seems more in line with, as someone else mentioned, nihilism. Only then could I see some inconsistency with one person condemning the actions of another. With nihilism, hey, it doesn't matter anyway.

Wha'evah! I do what a wawnt!
I suck at multi-posting, so I put my messages in bold
Ah...what you experienced is an age old problem...so many Christians are a). not consistent with Christianity and b). do not live like Christ did. I would encourage you to try to make the distinction.
Your aunt should still love you in spite of your atheism. She should see that the best way to teach someone about God's love is to show them unconditional love in the first place.
I have many atheist friends who were alienated by Christians and I have to tell them the same thing-- the Christian is a sinner and not reflecting Christ's character.
Jesus was the type that hung out with the sinners, the prostitutes, the drunks-- because he saw them for what they were-- broken people living broken, sad lives, wanting more out of life; but unable to find it. He loved them because he saw they needed true life, a satiation in existence that only a relationship with Himself could provide. So he died for them. Jesus was like Tim Tebow-- read the (either Details or GQ) article on him-- the reporter couldn't get anyone to talk trash about him. Well, it wasn't quite like that with Jesus, the religious priests/Jews hated him, but everyone else loved him, he was the life of the party. He did not judge them for being atheists, he offered them a way out. His harshest words were for the Jewish clergy, the Pharisees, who were externally keeping the law but internally very sinful (prideful) in their hearts.
Dinosaurs-- extinct shortly after Noah's flood-- this is when all the oil we now use was formed. Our oil fields in their present state can't survive for more than ~10,000 years anyways-- the oil would simply break down among other things.
I don't have all the answers but I have enough to trust God with the rest. No other book or religion explains both man's predicament (our sinfulness) and explains why we commit the atrocities we do, _and_ provides a way out.
Islam hopes to cleanse the conscious from guilt by having you pray many times per day and do good works. But we know if good works were all that was required to remove the guilt from our conscious, there would have been no need for Jesus to die for us-- because keeping the law (doing "good" works) was already covered in the Old Testament.
