Ok. I was born and raised in Birmingham. I lived in Pleasant Grove(suburb) of Bham. I moved to Atlanta and have lived here for about 11 months. Just recently my job has been drying up and I am moving back to Birmingham in less than three weeks to live in Hoover. If you are from Alabama post your location, and if you are an Alabama native or not.

/waits for the Alabama jokes to start flying.

I lived in Mountain Brook for a year...

[For the uninformed, Mountain Brook is commonly referred to as the "preppy" area of Birmingham, where rich families still have African-American maids and butlers.]

My family rented a house there from August '93 - August '94. We had neither a maid nor a butler. But yeah, I was a 'brookie.

I'm in Huntsville :) Wasn't born here, but I basically grew up here from 1st grade to highschool graduation. I attend university elsewhere, so I haven't spent much time in Huntsville the past 4 years until this summer.

Born in Huntsville. Lived there till I was 5.
My Dad worked at the Redstone arsenal so I'm one of the original "rocket brats".

I had to beg my parents to not move to Mtn. Brook. I told them to let me graduate from school then they could move wherever the hell they wanted. They ended up skipping Mtn. Brook all together and moved to Mentone(near Ft.Payne). Personally I am glad they never moved to Mtn. Brook. The people there just make me gag.

Oh, man. Have I got some stories about Mountain Brook for you. It seemed like every parent there either drove a Volvo station wagon or a mercedes convertible. My sister and I had to be driven to school in our 1984 Toyota Tercel station wagons. Yes, that's right, we had two of them. One silver, one blue. Gosh, I'm glad that's over.

Ha! Pleasant Grove! I lived there for about 2 and a half years while I was in Jr. High. I'm originally from Dothan but lived in Pleasant Grove and went to college at UA.

Like you, I moved to Atlanta and am in a flooded Atlanta IT market after being laid off. I'm looking in both Atlanta and Birmingham for jobs.

Spent five years in southern 'Bama. Mobile, Daphne, Fairhope area. Loved the local people and a really beautiful area. Then the retired yankees took over and I left.

Played golf down at a bunch of the Robert Trent Jones courses in Alabama if that counts.

Very nice people. But they sort of stared at us funny because they probably weren't used to seeing 4 asians in a big Ford Excursion before.
