not be in congress in the first place? that seems to be the only thing they whine about with her.
In my experience it comes down to two things most of the time -

1) some nebulous complaint that if the democrats just ‘got tough’ or ‘reached across the aisle’ or whatever then things would be better. These almost never come with specific actions they should take and if they do the outcome is often some fantasy.

2) people say democrats should do something they are already doing.

I’m sure there are things the democrats could do better but the primary impediment to progress at this time is the fact that the republicans can effectively stop any government action even if they consistently lose the vote by around 7-10 points. This means they can take very unpopular positions and still get their way and they are very aware of this. Hence, why they have no problem taking very unpopular positions like blocking stimulus.

What do you think Nancy Pelosi should be doing differently, specifically?
What I think all of them should be doing is presenting bills that are specific and understandable. A five thousand page bill is absurd. Am I to believe that any member of congress has read it? Am I to believe that Trump got past looking for his name on the cover?
Nancy runs the house, what I expect her to do is run the house.
None of our representatives give a rats ass about the people they represent. A $2k stimulus check is a joke at best, $600 is slap in the face. It's doing nothing, it won't save anyone from a foreclosure, it won't pay 3 months rent, it's chump change tossed out to make the foolish think our government is helping.
Why not give that money to the folks that were actually laid off or had their business shut down?

We govern by visuals, sound bites, memes, and lies.

She has run the house and has passed large numbers of bills that republicans refuse to take up.

Pelosi passed a vastly more generous aid package. The republicans refused to allow it to come to a vote.

Seems like she’s doing exactly what you want?

Anyone presenting the stimulus checks as the only thing the Federal government is doing is being disingenuous. Both relief acts passed into law contain bolstered UI, rental assistance, and other targeted provisions. The House version passed in May but stalled in the Senate was also quite generous.

lol

Pelosi: *Passes 3.2T Stimulus wish-list package in House* - which is really a bloated whale of useless shit that doesn't pertain to the vast majority of Americans. $1200 stimulus checks again instead of $600 is really the only thing of note - which is laughable.

Republicans: "No, this is a bloated-whale, we will meet you most of the way with a 2.1T compromise"

Pelosi: "NO DEAL!"

Pelosi: *Comes back to the table 2 months later and negotiate a bill even shittier than the one offered by Republicans previously for $900B* $600 peso stimulus checks.

Pelosi + Democrats: "WE WON and got the stimulus passed and it was all exactly what we wanted! We did it! Stupid republitards!"

You guys, you're funny as fuck lol.

Sincere question - are you stupid and ignorant enough to believe this is what actually happened or are you lying in the hopes that nobody else knows better?

Pelosi was the one that offered the $2.2 trillion compromise and republicans rejected it.

You might reconsider 1. I said that, and 2. the bothsides has to do with leaders of both parties were vandalized. Its really not that difficult to understand. The people of this country are tired of both sides.
I think that we hate ourselves and that makes us miserable about everything. Being miserable leads to irrational thinking when the underlying hostility toward life that misery causes springs to life in the form of bitter recriminations. It makes us primed to take offense and, as I said, irrational in our thinking. I see that kind of irrationality in your statement this country is tired of both sides. In the first place I think it is a projection of your own feeling, but true owing to the reasons of universality I just mentioned. But I believe a more accurate or rational expression would be that some people are tired of one side and some of the other, with some tired of both sides.

The important point is not that people are tired of things. People have been tired of things and will be tired of things into the far future so long as they don't realize that what they suffer from is a state of internal misery that can't be escaped by changing the world outside.

I believe that if you were able to cure yourself of self hate you would see that we live in the Garden of Eden and that what happened to us is that we ate from the tree of knowledge, that we learned the language of misery, that we learned to compare, to compare ourselves as being very short of perfection and that the love you take is equal to the love you make. Love all sides because you are a multi-dimensional being. Try not to compare. Just be and relax if you can. At least temper your faith that things are as you think they appear.

All this is done, in my opinion, not because Republicans demonstrate they are better, but because they cause people to fear that Democrats would be worse. Fear only works with fear of the unknown. The job then is to prevent Democrats from proving they are better. Fear, be afraid, always afraid, hang onto your little pile of turds because somebody somewhere, some socialist, wants to take them from you. There is no such thing as a better pile of turds to be had anywhere.

You're not allowed to imply that Her Royal Majesty would ever do anything that isn't in the best interests of her loyal subjects.

Well you certainly could back the claim up with some actual facts! But I’m sure you know nothing about that, right?

I very much agree their fundamental message is not ‘vote for me, I’m good’. It’s ‘vote for me, they are bad’.

Know what's funnier? Mitch and the Republicans sat on their fat asses until weeks before end of the year instead of working beginning 7 months ago to improve the bill. And you think Nancy was the problem?

Your lack of intellect is the funniest thing.

You mean pass a straight bill like she did on 12/28?

Here is the text of the bill:

So tell me which part are you incapable of following along? Was the one page amendment too long for you?

With the Internet there is zero reason you should be as ignorant as you are.

This is why I harp on both sides bitches so much. It’s not because they pick on “my team”, it’s because they expose their intellectual ignorance on a topic and instead of learning and retaining new information they stick their fingers in their ears and double down on both sides. Either that or they “both sides” to try and excuse the behavior of “their team”, which means they are purposefully being dishonest and there are two types of people I can’t stand in this world, hypocrites and liars and they are typically both.

Not only that. Mitch was holding onto a 600 billion skinny bill for a lot of the time. The Senate R's never went over a trillion though.

The negotiations between White House/Mnuchin and the Dems got to a package that was reportedly up to 1.8 Trillion but Trump wanted to exclude any state and local aid since obviously a good chunk of that aid would go to blue states. That was the main sticking point I read from various political reporters. But even if the WH and Congressional Dems had agreed, Mitch was signaling he would not have the votes to pass a bill that big anyways. The whole shit show was mismanaged by Trump and the Repubs partly because Trump is a shitty executive and because Mitch and some Repubs give zero fucks about the little people.

Imagine if the Democrats tried to refuse aid to red states in a disaster situation like say Hurricanes when they hit the Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida. Be like fuck you red states, you keep building in the path of hurricanes so eat shit, we ain't giving you any federal aid because you are red and we don't like you. Imagine that.

Nope, you're just grossly misinformed as usual.

Republican talks in the October timeframe were hovering around 1.8 - 2.2T in Republican offerings. It's not our fault you decided to dismiss it and take the table scraps of a 900B and called it a victory lol.

Pelosi and Mnuchin have been discussing a new spending deal between $1.8 trillion and $2.2 trillion, although President Trump has said he would support even more.

That article says EXACTLY what I said above. It says the WH and Dems were negotiating between 1.8 and 2.2 - if you do a little more research you'll see it was the Dems at 2.2 as was posted above by another poster, and the WH at 1.8. If you do a little more research you'll see a main sticking point was aid to state and local governments that was the primary difference between the two packages. AND in that article it also says what I stated, that Mitch was not really onboard with Trump's numbers anyways, that he wanted something more around 600 billion total, AND reiterated what I stated that Trump's managing style is neurotic and terrible at making things happen. Thanks for backing me up. FOr your info the REPUBS are not a monolithic entity - in this case the WH was very far apart from congressional R's.

Maybe because they weren't, unless you think New Year's Eve and Jan 2 are the same day....and in your case, they may be.
