Do you guys remember when HDTV first came out and Mitsubishi and their Diamond projections were the rage? Well, they had this split screen features that we could hook up two identical video sources, playing identical scenes. Now this is when I used to work at a long bankrupted A/V retail chain, and we did side by side comparisons with the cables out of boredom one day.
We tested the regular RCA cables that came with the DVD player, then the slightly upgraded "gold plated" RCA cables, and the Monster's. After that, we switched the cables from the different players, and the results were that the Monsters had better pictures.
After the RCAs, we used S-Video cables; and the results were more pronounced with Monster's S-Video leading the chart. The higher S-Video Monster series only show marginal improvement.
The biggest improvements were with components cable. It was night and day difference. We used to sell the cables because it gave us the BEST commissions, and like most of you thought it was just marketing gimmicks, until the test we did.
From then on, we didn't even try to sell the cables, but showed the customers the pictures and let them decide. You can say what you want about Monster cables, but I think they do make quality products, and their prices are steep.
