People are finally figuring out that Monster Cables are overpriced!

Monster makes high quality products that are well worth every cent.

You're supposed to take the plastic off the cigars BEFORE you smoke them. ^_^

Wow, $15 for speaker wire 80% off. I thought The Source wanted too much at $15, and that was regular price. Cables are the biggest scam going. Being in the customer service/retail industry, it doesn't surprise me how stupid some people are.

Heh... that's why I ordered my cables online a week before I picked up my new TV on Black Friday 🙂
Good man!. My daughter bought a TV and monster cables at Future Shop a month or so ago. I found her the same type cable on the net for a fifth of the price. It took 3 days to get it delivered to her place and she returned the monster cable to Future Shop.

She could not thank me enough.

Everyone knows that a monster HDMI cable protects the digital bits of data from entering a quantum superposition state where they can be both 0 and 1.

Objective measurable tests prove monster hdmi cables have higher bandwidth than others. Of course I'm talking the EE and real definition of bandwidth here. Digital is not just ones and zeros but the state change of it on an analog medium like the cable.

I could pay for a study that says you're full of shit. You're trying to compare ripoff monster to a subpar made in china cable that probably doesn't meet resistance/shielding specs. Where are these objective tests?

lolwut?

As much as it pains me to agree with spidey, I have seen objective testing that shows Monster HDMI cables can make a perceptible improvement in picture quality over 26 AWG Monoprice HDMI cables.

The caveat is that it is only perceptible on close viewing of 1080P signals, and only on cable runs in excess of 25'. The 22 AWG Monoprice cables weren't in the test.

not many people run lines that far and for that distance I would hope the would use a gauge to gauge comparison.

I have known that Monster Cables are a fraud for over 25 years when I used to do custom installs in college. There are plenty of dumb people left to keep them in business considering how long they have been selling not much more than a perception.

I hope you mean most overpriced... They had a ton of big LCD and Plasma TV's there just a week ago when they just 40% off of retail, and ALL of them were gone today.... along with all of the furniture and almost every single appliance.

If a business needs to rip people off no matter the reasons, its a pretty shit business model. Until I see the employees, ceos and all driving used fords, I may shop at their stores out of necessity but I dont give in to their justifications for a shit business model that rely on gullible people for profits.

The cables are not overpriced nor a ripoff if people are willing to pay for it.

Monoprice can ship orders under 10lbs overnight for about $5 per order within California, but I know people who are still willing to run out to Bestbuy, or similar, and buy a cable simply because they want it immediately. It is not a matter of ripping people off or overcharging them; if they must have it immediately, then it is a cost of convenience.

Do you guys remember when HDTV first came out and Mitsubishi and their Diamond projections were the rage? Well, they had this split screen features that we could hook up two identical video sources, playing identical scenes. Now this is when I used to work at a long bankrupted A/V retail chain, and we did side by side comparisons with the cables out of boredom one day.

We tested the regular RCA cables that came with the DVD player, then the slightly upgraded "gold plated" RCA cables, and the Monster's. After that, we switched the cables from the different players, and the results were that the Monsters had better pictures.

After the RCAs, we used S-Video cables; and the results were more pronounced with Monster's S-Video leading the chart. The higher S-Video Monster series only show marginal improvement.

The biggest improvements were with components cable. It was night and day difference. We used to sell the cables because it gave us the BEST commissions, and like most of you thought it was just marketing gimmicks, until the test we did.

From then on, we didn't even try to sell the cables, but showed the customers the pictures and let them decide. You can say what you want about Monster cables, but I think they do make quality products, and their prices are steep.
