PentiumD Cooler

I ordered a Coolermaster replacement for my pentium D stock cooler. It specified LGA 775 compatibility (I think it is a "Silent 775" but do not have it available at the moment - but it is basically a flat piece of copper on the bottom? I had expected a "Block" to touch the top of my processor? It looks like the LGA bracket will be contacted, thus potentially keeping the heatsink from a good fit on the CPU top. The stock cooler from intel had a circle of copper touching the top of the processor.

Is there a difference between P4 and PD systems coolers?

Can anyone help me out here? I don't want to goop this thing up and try to return it....

I haven't built an Intel system in decades...

Thanks
