Pentium M CPU Question

I have a Dell D600 Laptop and when I was comparing my laptop with another Dell 600m, I have a question.
When I am using battery power, the D600's CPU is running at 590MHz and the 600m is only running at 224MHz. I wonder is it the reason my battery life is 3 hour max now with wireless on? How can I fix the MHz problem and let it drop back to the 224MHz?

Thanks

I am currentlyusing Speedswitch XP

i'm pretty sure it goes lower, it just depends on what programs your running at the time. I saw my friends d600 go lower than 594 on battery

on speedswitchXP there is a "max battery" power setting; I have this on when I'm running on battery power. My thinkpad has throttled down to a reported 80mhz. Try it.

doensn't matter if it's 1MHz or 594MHz, because the Pentium-M cpus don't go lower than 600 MHz at all - so your OS is just reporting a faulty number.
Try downloading "Mobile Meter", and you'll get an exact reading.

If i run CPU-Z and do different tasks it will report a different multipier for the cpu depending on the demand put on the cpu

224mhz is not a accurate speed. Get CPUID and it should report 600mhz or close at low power.
