Pentium III-M speed question

I have a Dell Inspiron 8100 w/ a 1.2 GHz P3-M CPU.

My problem is that almost every benchmarking proggie reports it as being a 6x133 CPU, or 800 MHz.

I disabled practically every power management setting there is, and yet its always 800 MHz...

The Dell BIOS sucks compared to the Abit's Softmenu system, can anyone help?

Thanks

The processor only runs at full speed if you have plugged the laptop into mains power, ie not running from battery, and you must also turn off SpeedStep.

Unless you have removed it, the SpeedStep control is the blue checkered flag located in the system tray. Open it up and turn off CPU Throttling.

Not if he's running XP. WIndows XP has speedstep build in. The only way to get rid of it is set your Power Profile in the Power management controll panel to Always On. If you want normal speedstep, you set it to Home/Office Desk, and if you want XP dynamicly increasing CPU power depending on how much of the processor you are using, select Notebook.

If you're running 2k/9x/ME, then you should have the speed step applet in your system tray. If you're running XP, this won't be the case.
