I just installed a Pentium Slot One 1GHZ CPU in my wife's computer and it is running hot. I have a vantec duel fan heatsink and am using artic silver grease. Sandra says cpu temp is 42c and mobo temp is 28c. This is not an overclocked cpu but a real 1ghzer. Same computer with a pentium 650@812 was running at 30c. Do the Pentium 1ghz chips run this much hotter? Your help and advise would be appreciated.

Maybe check your HSF installation or possibly the case ventilation. My P3 cB0 850 FC-PGA CPU running at 1000 MHz @ 1.75 volts with a GlobalWIN FOP32-1 HSF with Arctic Silver and good case cooling never exceeds 25 C.

I had that Vantec cooler on my P3 600@800 and it did not cool any better the the orb before it the sink is just too small I relaced it with a Global Win Vos-32 from 2cooltek and it dropped temps about 5C I would have gone for the alpha but it would not fit in the case I had at that time.

Thanks for your replies. I decided to install an Alpha and get rid of this Vantec.
