Hi,
I have an old game (2002) that isn't working on my new PC. It is an AMD based system, but the system requirements for the game is a pentium processor. Is there some kind of emulator that I could use to make the game work? Is there any other solution? Thanks.

Generally, the term Pentium is used to indicate anything x86 compatible, or a processor class (Pentium II - ~400 Mhz, etc). Having an AMD chip shouldn't make a difference. What title is it?

I doubt having an AMD processor is the reason why the game won't run. What's the game, your system specs, operating system, and exactly what problems do you have with the game?

The game is international cricket captain 2002. Specs: Athlon 64 3000+ 1.8Ghz, 1GB memory, ATI Radeon X800 video, Windows XP home.

Basically when I start the game, I can hear the startup music. But the screen remains black and freezes (task manager says not responding).

AMD and Intel run the same instructions. (x86)
If the game doesnt work right now it doesnt mean a Pentium will run it.
The limitation is likely with the OS.

You probably to use the compatibility mode or something similar.
Also, you will have to accept the fact that many old programs dont work in Windows XP.
Even some games that came out at the same time as XP wont automatically run in XP. Thats because the developers were using 98 or NT during its production.

First make sure you have the latest video and audio drivers. Make sure you've installed the latest game patch. Then try it.

You might also try setting you video card settings back to default. Just to make sure no changes there are causing a problem.

If none of that works and no one here has any better ideas check the game companies website for troubleshooting.

The symptoms you describe sound like a video problem, and have nothing to do with your CPU.

Thanks. I'll try reverting to the old drivers. I have used this game for a while time on my laptop with windows xp, so that is probably not the problem.
