Pentium D 820 overclocking?

It makes no sense to get anything from the 8xx series now that the 9xx series is out. There are actualy more motherboards compatible with the 9xx series than there are with the 8xx, even some older 865 chipset motherboards.

It would make sence if u wanted a heater, actually if the 920 was compatible with the 915 chipsets it would be good, hmm maybe i could get a p5 p800 if the 860 chipset is compatible, also is 860 conpatible with 64 bit?

EDIT: p5p800 SE supports the 920 cpu

Yep, the P5P800 SE does support it fully, I had mine on there temporarily. I know gigabyte also has an 865 chipset motherboard that supports it, the Nvidia SLI chipsets also support it as well as the 945/955/975. There are actualy more boards that support Presler than there are for smithfield.

Question - has anyone who bought one of the Dell's been able to OC it slightly (assuming I don't screw around by adding new fans, or more cooling). Just looking at 5-10% increases in speed. I realize that because Dell has its own propeitary motherboard and a weak PS, options may be limited at best. I have an 820.

Is it just me or is that an oxymoron? Buy a dell to overclock...
