Pentium D 820 or Athlon 64 3500+?

all you're going to here man is:

a) Pentium D's = htter than hell... Buy an X2
b) Why Get the 3500+ save up and get an X2

My suggestions, if you multitask a helluva lot, but the Pentium D. If you play games alot or need faster single thread performance, get the Athlon.

dont post like that or mods will get you .

get a 3800 dual core it will beat the 820 hands down.

I can't imagine buying either one. Both have poor value. Poor price/performance ratios.

820D is a joke compared to 3800+ or Opteron 165

3500+ is a joke compared to an OC'ed 3200 or a Opteron 148

My guess is that the OP is looking at buying a prebuilt system, & he's somehow found two systems he thinks are comparable.

For heavy mulititasking or some multithreaded video encoding programs, the Pentium D 820 will be better.

But for all normal tasks, the 3500+ will be much better.
