It will depend on what the rest of your system is composed of, especially the vidcard.

it depends on the rest of your system, as well as what programs you use. i would bet that the duron will be faster all around but i'm sure some things will not benefit much from a faster cpu.

The Duron is about 5-10% slower than a PIII. There will be a difference, but you may not notice it, depending on what you do with your machine. I do know you'll notice it if you do RC5 though.

yes i think you will see a difference but it does depend on what exactly you with to see an increase in speed.

in games it will depend on what video card you have and what games you play. :)

You can get some idea of performance from this review at GamePC.
Duron 800 compared to several other processors including PIII 600EB.

Agree with other posts that whole system has to be considered, but you're sure to see significant improvement. Especially if you overclock since you should be able to reach 900 with little effort. With a good chip you could reach 1000-1050. There are no guarantees but most people seem to have no trouble gaining 100-150 speed increase.

Good luck!:)
