The only difference I've heard is that the Prescott has 1MB of L2 cache as opposed to the Northwood only have 512KB L2 cache. I've heard that the extra L2 cache doesn't improve performance for the Pentium 4. I'm looking to buy a new Pentium 4 CPU as my current P4 may be the reason for random system reboots and BSODs I've been having, so I would like to know what would be better to go with when both are around the same price?

What about socket LG775 vs. socket 478? My motherboard is socket 478, but aren't socket 775 P4s the Prescott core in addition to the socket 478 Pentium 4E? Why would they be if the Norhtwood performs better?

Northwoods run cooler, but I think Prescott's run a bit faster. Just from what I've read though.

socket 775 REQUIRES pci-E graphics ddr2, unless you get the As8 mobo from abit or some crappy ecs mobo.
