Is this too hot? When I am playing a game and using it alot it reaches temps up to 51C. I am using the regular Intel Stock Fan that came with it.

Even if its not too hot I would like to get a nice one but not a huge price, know anywhere?

Well the stock HSF is obviously not going to be the best in the world, but those temps aren't too bad. Remember, the P4 has an on-die temp diode, so it'll read higher temps in general than, for example, an Athlon motherboard-mounted thermistor.

I'll leave alternative HSF recommendations to someone else, since I'm getting a $60 Swiftech and haven't really compared the lower-priced alternatives to determine which is best.

If it's only going around 51c on full load, then it shouldn't be anything to worry about. If it's 51c on idle, then it might be something to worry about. :) My 1.6A overclocked to 2.4GHz goes to that temp under full load. It's also using the retail Intel heatsink fan.

IMHO, I don't see too much value in buying a new heatsink and fan if you already have one that works decently. Some of the heatsinks out there are expensive! Might be better to just spend that money on a faster cpu. It's just my opinion.

Make sure there is sufficient air-flow within your case, and make sure there are no dust bunnies in your HSF -which usually causes the high idle temps.

IT'S CORRECT you don't have to worry about the temps. I have Celeron 2.0 GHz idle around 40 C at full load around 50C using the Intel boxed fan.
