Logitech love Spy-software too. so you may need to do a scan. But you did say that the mosue also staggers without the offical driver.

My MX1000 works perfectly on my 3000+ @ 2.5GHz (nForce3 Ultra) and laptop with a Mobile 3000+ (K8T800).

HDTVman, you are the freakin man... that USB mouse switcher worked!!! i no longer have the 1/30th of a second lag. i am very happy. i will install it on my athlon XP tomorrow to see if it fixes it there too...

porkster, thanks for your suggestions... btw, my gfx card on my a64 and my friend's P4 is the 6800GT and i have the ati 9800 pro on my Athlon XP.

Aenslead, i tried it with the MS Intellipoint drivers because on my old system i had the intellipoint bluetooth mouse and i noticed the lag that Amaroque mentioned... it was then that i noticed the lag at first, i tried uninstalling it, and i noticed an increase in the lag on my wired mice!!! so i thought maybe the intellipoint had some beneficial effect on the usb bus in general. in any case, with or without the intellipoint, and ALSO with neither logitech or intellipoint drivers (just the windows generic) i get the same results.

i've tried using the ps/2 adapter for my usb wired mice to see if that was it and i had the same lag.

anyways, i beginning to believe that i was the only person who noticed this lag. although i'd like to have gotten to the bottom of this without having to resort to HDTVman's suggestion of USB mouse switcher 1.1, i'm super glad that it is now super responsive.

WORD!

Well, the fact that the mouse switcher helped seems to inply that you DID get to the bottom of it. The problem seems to have been with the USB polling times. Perhaps there are differences between the Intel and AMD chipsets that cause the polling to happen less consistently on the AMD machine (and therefore you see lag)?

Maybe your friend is using the PS/2 port, and that is why he is not seeing it.

I have an A64 3200+ @ home, and a P4 3.6 @ work, and I don't notice much of a difference between them. Both comps are using corded mice going to the PS/2 port (my home mouse is optical with a usb/ps2 adapter).

Anyhow, I'm glad to hear that the problem is solved.

-D'oh!
