Pentax K200d: Image stabilization with manual lenses?

After running through a series of crappy point-and-shoots, my father is finally considering a digital SLR. He already owns many hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars worth of high-end K- and MX-series lenses for his prized old Pentax 35mm SLR, and would like to keep using them.

My only question is whether the Pentax K200d's onboard image stabilization is compatible with his vintage lenses. My dad is convinced that a good image stabilization function will remove the need to schlep around a tripod, and his limited budget means he can only afford a refurbished camera body, sans lens.

yes it'll work with Pentax manual prime lenses. When you turn on the cameras with manual lenses it'll ask you to input lenses focal length. Don't know how it'll work with manual zoom lenses though.

For best results, input the focal length he thinks he'll be shooting at.

I kept accidentally thumbing past that focal length prompt when I was first using an old manual lens on my K2000, so the camera was under the impression I was using a shorter lens that I was at first. Not sure what that effected, but it didn't seem to ruin the quality of the pictures I was taking.

Yes it will work 100%. If its 100% manual, when you start the camera, it should ask you to input your focal length for the length. If anything, consider getting a K20D......its under 700 dollars now which is absolutely incredible for what you get. best value out there as this moment, period.
