good price for the camera, the lens is crap as this is the same one that came with my Canon Rebel XTi....bought a 28-135mm instead ...I am not saying that the lenses are interchangeable but saying that they are the same type ...its still crap and I can take pictures

since when does Pentax camera comes with a Canon kit lens. Yes, the Canon kit lens is crap. but it has nothing to do with the Pentax kit lens.

Hmm and ive been debating these 2 cameras. I didnt think that shake reduction would be worth the $100 difference.

This is an extremely good deal. While not quite as good as a Canon/Nikon, its a very competent camera/lense. For those saying how bad the lense is, learn to take pictures before you badmouth equipment. If you are looking for DSLR right now, i would jump at it.

Anandtech recently did a $1000 SLR comparison and Pentax K10D came out ahead. For people with a more limited budget, K100D (6 MP, shake reduction) is another good choice (also qualifies for the same $50 rebate). The most affordable, K110D, lacks the shake reduction; but is nontheless still an excellent camera, according to the review. Another good choice is Olympus E-500 (no shake reduction though). Newegg just had a deal on the camera (8 MP) with 14-45 AND 40-150 lens for $658 earlier this week (MSPR $900)--it will probably come back again. That camera also received a lot of rave reviews in the last year.

Not the same lens that came with your Canon. Canon indeed has some trash (Pentax has/had some in their catalog too with the FAJ lenses). This lens from Pentax is surprisingly decent. I highly recommend spending the extra for the K100D as the SR is a very good thing. I'm upgrading from my DL (similar to K110D) to the K100D as soon as I can afford it.

Yeah, the Pentax kit lens is regarded the best out of all the kit lenses (not saying much). Personally I like it much better than the 16-45/4 (gives close to L performance), but I've been using a SMC-M 50/2 almost exclusively now.
