Pension Funds/IRAs question

Hello all!

I just got a new job and I'm filling out all of my paperwork to set up my benefits - one of which is a pension fund. What I am concerned about is who to list as a contingent beneficiary. Specifically, I want to know what happens to the money if something happens to me and my kids and I do not have anyone specified?

Any help is appreciated!

The money would go unclaimed unless a blood relative came to claim it.

If you die and no one is singled out, then it becomes part of your estate which is subject to the state probate laws.
