I don't know why anyone is talking about Twilight in this thread; first off this is definitely R material here, more like True Blood but far less corny than either True Blood or Twilight. Second, the vampires we've seen have yet to be referenced as vampires, some of which appear to be a good deal more fucked up than what we're used to. They're also far more mortal than any of the juvenile depictions we've seen in other material (headshots/heartshots seem to work just fine, assuming you can get past the exoskeleton/carapace shit on the tougher ones)

I was skeptical about this show at first, but its definitely very intriguing, very much like what an R rated "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" might be like.

We know there are vampires, but we also know there's something else ripping people to shreds that doesn't fit the signature of the vampires. Now, given what happens at the end of the 2nd episode, it could end up being
Frankenstein's monster
, but I'd imagine it would be something like
Werewolves or maybe a Mr. Hyde appearance

So far we have Victor Frankenstein
who is successfully resurrecting dead ppl
. We have Dorian Gray,
who is likely immortal based on the character in other works, as well as his complete confidence and lack of fear so far in this show
. Then we have apparent witch craft and gun slinging.

So yeah, this show has amazing potential, and why anyone would get hung up on the vampires, which we see for all of maybe 4% of the show's total run time so far, is beyond me.

OK watched the 2nd episode, didn't realize it was ondemand only so I won't spill the beans but I'm in on this show for sure.

any show that eva green has been in was cancelled.

she's been in more than one TV series prior to this? Camelot is the only other one I'm aware of...and from what I've read, that show wasn't exactly canceled, it just wasn't renewed, and it seemed to have as much to do with scheduling conflicts than just lack of success.

I haven't really seen or I guess noticed her before. In this show she has the psycho look in her eyes and the way she talks. Beautiful and crazy. I like it.
yeah, her performance in the second ep is pretty wild

I thought she was a bigger star but I guess she really hasn't been in all that many movies/shows. Probably best known for Kingdom of Heaven and Casino Royale, and most recently, 300: Rise of an Empire. Although she's definitely not afraid of nude/sex scenes, so maybe that's why I feel like I've seen "more of her"; there's some pretty good stuff in 300: Rise of an Empire, Perfect Sense, and definitely The Dreamers

What was the deal at the party where the spirit took over that woman? Was that his daughter talking? Also, wtf was with the last scene? I didnt get that

Looks more interesting than True Blood to me, after 10 minutes.

Personally I stopped watching that a couple seasons ago, though the wife still does.

The Frankenstein scene? I forget which one was the last.

I'm assuming this wasn't the first person he's brought to life. Probably be explained in the next episode.

I think I'd say I'll give this a 7/10 for the first episode, the wife was really engrossed in it even if she didn't want to admit it and I was half watching.

Better than the new Godzilla I's say, only went 5.5 there.

🙂

Looks worth watching more to me.

don't really know, seems like that's what happened, but I don't think we're supposed to know for sure, thus creating mystery/intrigue. All we know is that Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) apparently has some otherworldly abilities

Seems apparent to me that Dr. Frankenstein had already been successful in bringing someone/thing back to life. Frankenstein's monster is what we see at the end (or at least that's what it referred to itself as, although its missing the green skin, squarish head, and bolts), tearing Proteus apart out of jealousy? rage? justbcuz? we'll have to wait and see.

as far as that cast is conercerned, we can probably spoil somethings by looking at the billing, basically
the dude playing Proteus is listed only under supporting cast, so its safe to assume he's gone for good, and that there is a main cast member, Rory Kinnear, who plays a character called "Frankenstein's monster"

KK, yeah thanks.

Just saw that.

I even like the name, I looked into that, the old pulp books that were sold named that at the time.

I do like it, but lots of rips, even the Last Samurai, and the whole League of Ext Gentleman thing going on, though I hated the last movie a bit myself and seems better here actually.

Real mash up of things.

I thought there was only two episodes, not much binge watching!
