Penny Arcade the Game HD Trailer

If anything, this SHOULD be a great game, considering how much they rag on other games and know what is good and what pisses players off. I hope this would be a fun action oriented game with little to no coherency in plot, lots of dynamite, and good fun.

At least they sold themselvs right. Unlike.... *cough*CAD*cough*cough*

cutscenes in CAPTIVATING....... 2D!!!! 😀

Yes, because they are helping to revitalize one of the deadest of dead PC gaming genres, adventure games. So sold out.

Sold out? That concept still exists outside of angsty junior-high pseudo goths who are pissed because other people listen to Tool too?

Grow up.

Anyway, for those interested, you can hit up the demo here:

the demo is ok, I didn't really laugh at any parts, it has cussing and robots that piss on you and hump your leg. Pretty good cell shaded graphics, combat is basic RPG style click/turn based. I might pay $20 bucks for it, but it doesn't seem all that great from the demo. $20 bucks is a decent price though

I picked up the full copy. There's definitely humor in there, especially if you're a fan of the comic. If not, you might not get a few of the jokes.

DivX? The alcoholic and abusive video player? 😀

i just saw an ad for this on dailytech yesterday... i was like "wtf, pennyarcade has a video game?"

will download the demo

I got the demo for windows and linux... The ad is right on the side of Anandtech's forums. I ran into an issue where my mouse disappeared after going through the menu, but I suppose it was just a freak glitch.

Oh, and the robots are the fruit ******s.

Ok, so I'm a year late to the party but this deserves another smack, so *SMACK*

Will give the demo a go this weekend, and if I even remotely enjoy it I'll drop the $20 for the full. Gabe and Tycho are awesomely funny, real as hell, and give back to the community via charitable organizations and such. They actually do give a crap, and I'd love to support them by picking up their game.

Hmm, I dont really like penny arcade but the game might be ok. No idea though, not a big fan of episodic game stuff.

Finished it. Feels a lot like an old school lucasarts adventure (Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, etc.) with turn-based combat siphoned from FF/KoTOR and the like. On top of all of this, they've layered a Penny Arcade twist of humor. Here are just a few facts:

- Your weapon for the game is a rake in various stages of upgrade. The highest level is called "The Rakest".
- There is an "anti-powerup" for use against enemies in combat called Double Mild Weak-Sauce.
- Hobo Combat.
- You do, at one point, have to retrieve a tiny model of a ferris wheel for a man so he can pee on it. I'll let you think about the explanation for that one.

Etc.

I enjoyed the hell out of myself. Looking forward to the next installment.

 Made me think of the song Hooker with a Penis.

The demo was funish - kindof reminded me of a Final Fantasy type game (which sorely needs more of). Haven't decided whether I am going to buy it tough.

😕 k

The game looks ridiculous, and fun. Ridiculously fun. I'd play it.

Interesting that they made it available for all platforms.
Though honestly, the Linux version should just come bundled with the PC version. (maybe throw in the Mac version as well)
The PC version stands a good chance of being playable using Wine, which leaves little reason to actually want to purchase a Linux version that can't run on Windows.

Finished the full version. If you like a plain ol' fun adventure game in the Tim Schafer/Ron Gilbert vein (Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle, Sam n Max, etc.), you should pick it up. You'll get your money's worth. Ron Gilbert actually founded Hothead, the dev studio that did the grunt design work.

so i just got around to playing them demo... fun as hell! combat seems like it can be a little tricky, unless there are keyboard shortcuts for stuff.

It was a lot of fun. If you never heard of them you'd probably think it's ok, say 7.0. Since I'm a big fan I'd give it an 8.2. It was funnier and more fun than RS Vegas 2, which is what I paused to play PA
