"All visitors are welcome to Oregon. When your stay is over, you are welcome to return to your home."
Seriously, we have no sales tax, beautiful mountains (skiing), fishing, hunting, white water rafting, and warmer winters. We have less humidity in the summer, but lots of rain in the winter (West of Cascades). On the East side it is much hotter in the summer and drier in winter. If you are looking for a metro area then your only prospect is Portland. However, many find Eugene quite wonderful. As far as beaches go, they are uncrowded, beautiful, and cold.
No, you can't pump your own gas, but who would want to? When it's cold and rainy then you can stay in a warm and dry car. Also, you don't have people smoking as they try to blow themselves up.
Away from Portland, the traffic is light for the most part.
On the downside, the K-12 has a poor student to teacher ratio. Try about 30+ to 1. The quantity of rain, freezing rain, and sometimes fog can get to you after awhile. The summer ends after Labor Day. There are about 15 days over 90 degrees for the whole summer on the West side (for those who like it warm). To the South it is much warmer.
That's about all that I can think of right now.
