That Penn and Teller Bullsh!t show just sucks.

What sealed it for me was when Penn went after the Boyscouts.... gotta let the homos in everywhere. And since they targetted the Boyscouts, who stand for good and moral values, and not letting perverted individuals in their otherwise hetero ranks somehow makes them a target of hate.

Not everyone wants to see this country go to hell. Fvck Penn and Teller. Both of them, seriously.

The only one I saw was the one about PETA. Eventhough I do think that animal abuse is wrong, it was nice how they pointed out how full of ****** PETA is.

Why are you so scared of homosexuals? Do you honestly think you can choose your sexuality? Did you choose to be straight?

No doubt. Since when did unbridled hate and bigotry become "good and moral". Homosexuals aren't perverts any more than heterosexuals. Most people would like "Old Time Hatred" to go to hell tho.

Whoops! I went all P&N... Sorry, hate speech makes me a little crazy...

Agreed.

I like the show from time to time. They are incredibly biased when doing their shows, but it's all in good fun. It can give you a new perspective, but you don't have to run with it. I loved the show about expensive food, and I loved the show about life counselors or whatever.

It's great for entertainment, and you can do what you want with the views they provide.

Well there is a load of unnecessary stupidity. I did that entire Boy Scout thing and I don't recall ever being indoctrinated with "unbridled hate and bigotry" - frankly sounds like some idiocy you just pulled out of your hat. Therefore it is sorta of pointless to even attempt to argue with anybody if they so readily just make up false statements. Additionally the fact is the Boy Scouts are a private organization and as such should be allowed to choose who joins them, regardless if you approve of it or not.

It's for entertainment only, not good journalism. Plus half the info in the recycling show was total bologna. I can't imagine the second-hand smoke one was any good either. Propaganda IMO.

Sucks when pesky facts get in the way of your world view, huh?

I find Penn and Teller's show interesting and entertaining, but they are hardly providing evidence from both sides. They are simply edutainment, and if you are basing your "world view" on their "facts" then that is somewhat disturbing. It would be akin to getting all of your news from watching "The Daily Show."

A friend of mine is a writer on the show (he was up for an emmy this year, but did not win), but I have never seen the show.

Whoops... Sorry. I didn't mean the scouts. I was a cub scout, and WANTED to join to Boy Scouts, but I just got too busy. I just meant the post I was replying to. To call homosexuals perverts, and to imply that tolerance, much less acceptance, has caused the country to "go to hell". Comments like that relly burn me...

And my last rant, "... when it's obvious that fundamentalism of all types is the cause of most of the world's strife."

Yes the Scouts are private. I did the Scouting thing as well. However, when I was in the Scouts I had no idea about their stance on homosexuality. I happen to disagree with them. No, I do not believe they should be forced to accept gays, but I do not have to agree with their small minded stance on the issue either.

As for "world views" I fully understand that P&T is the TV version of an editorial page. But as of yet, I haven't seen them be wrong on an issue. That's probably because they are libertarian just like me.

The only problem I have with the show is that Penn's kind of an ass. Look, whether I agree or disagree with you, I still don't like it if you're a dick. And he's definitely a dick about his POV. I guess some people would call it his "humor", but I just find it annoying.

As for their topics (Penn's personality aside), some of them I agree, some I disagree. It's interesting to get the perspective though.

No, you did not "fix" anything but rather broke it due to sheer stupidity.

Where, pray-tell, did I have contempt for The Daily Show and say one should not watch it? Please oh wise one, point it out to me and the rest of us.
All I said is you can't get all of your news from watching The Daily Show and I stand by that 100%. Sure you can watch it and get another spin on the news, I do it quite often but you sure as hell should not get your information only from that one show - or any one show.

I see critical thinking is not a highly developed skill of yours. Of course if you only get your information from one program that is not even a true news program I can see why you are in error.

I am not scared of homosexuals but I think it's wrong that we are supposed to embrace their unnatural lifestyle and pretend it's normal and perfectly acceptable. If a gay kid wants to join the Boy Scouts I have no issue with that but if he wants to be openly gay and pretend that it's normal I do have a problem with it. I also have no issue with necrophiliacs joining the boy scouts if they can keep their perversion to themselves. Same with people into bestiality... join but leave your perverted stuff at home and don't you dare tell my kid this stuff is normal.

Homosexuality is not something that will ever be fully accepted and even most homosexuals know this. Just because the media embraces it right now will never make it right.

No joke. I was highly surprised to hear that PETA kills 50,000 animals a year! They don't want you testing lipstick on monkeys, but they'll kill a dog because they can't find a home and it's the "right thing to do".

The show isn't perfect, but it's great and fun to watch.

I was going to quietly leave the thread until I saw that "unnatural lifestyle" BS. So does that mean you think everyone who drives cars and uses artificial sweetener will go to hell because it's "unnatural"? The fact is that ten percent of male sheep are gay http://www.sciencenews.org/pages/sn_arc97/1_4_97/bob1.htm
Describing gayness as "unnatural" is one of the stupidest, most obviously and demonstrably wrong arguments that has ever been popular. One of my first biology department jobs I saw gay frogs, and I have also seen gay dogs. Metastudies have determined that homosexuality is definitely between 25-75% genetic. There also seem to be chemical influences during fetal development. If you still have doubts about it being natural, here are some pics of gay animals: (NSFW, duh)
deer
lions
donkeys

Gay animals are really quite common and perfectly natural:
http://rainbowallianceopenfaith.homestead.com/Science3.html

There are arguments against homosexual behavior which are based in rational thoughts. "Unnatural acts" is not one of them, and nobody should be trying to perpetuate that argument. Even if you have some valid reason to be against it, perpetuating that argument just makes you look stupid, and leads people to ignore whatever else you have to say.

As for the boy scouts, they should never have been a tax exempt organisation. It doesn't matter if you were a member and "didn't notice" their anti-homosexual agenda. They argued in court that they are a private hate group and allowing homosexuals into their organization would undermine them. No hate group should ever be tax exempt, and no employer should take membership in such a hate group into account in hiring decisions. They have the same right to exist as the nazi party, kkk, and rush limbaugh, none of whom should have tax exempt status. (The court case was one where they revoked someone's eagle scout status upon discovering he was homosexual, which affected his resume.)

Edit: spelling; Also the best episode of P&T was the "war on drugs" episode, it might have only shown one side, but it wasn't misleading. I didn't like the "endangered species" episode, although it did expose some serious problems with the legislation, it also completely ignored the positive side of it and reason for it. Of course they are always, by their own admission, "biased as fvck". I still think overall they are good because even if they are "wrong" on a given topic, they still tend expose the worst aspects of whichever side they are against, and the problems that need to be addressed. They shouldn't be trusted as a source without verifying data from elsewhere though.

Edit2: fixed saying "goat" instead of the correct "sheep"

I've seen a dog try to hump a cat too... it doesn't mean it's natural.

Don't get your panties in a bunch, toughguy. And if you think no one will take me serious then how do you expect anyone to take your silly ass serious when your refer to the Boy Scouts as a "hate group" in the same category as Nazi's and the KKK.

I like the show, but I can't help but disagree with a lot of their points. They make their point, but they mock the other side and heavily edit their interviews... but then again, they do interview a lot of douchebags, thus they don't need to edit those interviews.

Looking at the show as a pure entertainment aspect, it's pretty fun to watch, and even funny at times.

Great post. I had 2 sets of gay gerbils as a kid. What *IS* unnatural is the brainwashing done by fundamentalists. It comepletely blows my mind that someone can be so hardcore against gay people, when they have NEVER done anything to them. And to compare them to necrophiliacs and bestiality is so amazingly insulting. You are more of a terrorist than a Christian. (How's that for an absurd comparason thrown back at you) Remember that. The old testament may have had cryptic statements against homosexuality, but it also said to be kind to your slaves and to stone people to death for their crimes... I think we might have evolved a bit beyond that... (Whoops! Evolution?)

I'm not telling you not to be Christain, or any other wacko religion for that matter. Just keep it to yourself.

In fact, to make this post relevant. Check out the P&T BS on religion. It's right on the money...

heh i like the peta/recycling eps. its not bad, sometimes penn is a bit much, but thats his character. they took on god, thats pretty brave on american tv these days. its not exactly skeptic magazine but its pretty fun to watch.

This is your mistake. I have been harrassed by gay men since I was a child(I consider most of them to be pedophiles too but that is an entirely different thread).

I have been hit on by homosexual males my entire adult life(I am ignoring my childhood for arguments sake) and they are as bad as any other horny dudes... they see something they want and they start hitting hard. I can't help it I am a decent looking guy but I have a girlfriend and even if she flew off the planet I am still not gonna wanna be with dudes.

Religion has nothing to do with this... guys trying to copulate with other guys is bad biology. Even your highschool teacher would have to tell you that was messed up unless his name was Mr. Garrison.

one of my friends is gay, and no he hasn't been harrassin people, even before he came out. i don't see his gay friends harrassin people either so i dunno wtf u are talking about. i think you are just making stuff up. all the gay men are so hot and bothered over you...right😛

Have you ever hit on women? Have any of those women by any chance turned you down? Has a women ever been hit on by a man who they didn't want hitting on them? Would you consider that some enormouse and cruel burden on the women? Should we just make all of this illegal to make you happy so that no one can express any kind of emotion that could offend you?
