Amazing how much you have invested in this thread. You must either work for the school or be a student. No alum would give this much of a fuck by now.

I personally hope he keeps it up. I'm enjoying every minute of his gut wrenching pain.

The only real blow so far is losing Redd.

I think Khairi Fortt is a pretty big loss too, and they've also already lost a couple of key verbal commits for next year. This teams going to suck bad for the foreseeable future.

Fortt was good, but he wasn't the center piece of the defense like Redd was of the offense.

I don't think they'll be terrible this year. Probably middle of the pack big ten. Getting a 6-6 record isn't that hard with all the shitty out of conference teams that are scheduled these days. Next year will be awful, and probably the year after, because I assume Obrien will Red Shirt pretty much everybody he can. After that it will all come down to how good of a recruiter he is. He was able to recruit a really good class dispite sanctions looming, so he might be able to recruit some decent players over the next few years with the promise of red-shirting them to get them through most of the sanctions.

If you think about it, a 2013 recruit who was red-shirted would have two years of eligibility after the sanctions were up.

If he can demonstrate that he can take a high ranked recruit and send them to the NFL I think he'll be able to recruit still. If he can't do that then nobody is gonna come here and they'll likely end up firing Obrien and paying huge $$ to bring someone high profile in 6 or 7 years from now when all the effects of the sanctions have worn off.

Boldin wasn't the starting QB. He was given every opportunity but was pretty much one fail after another. He's been trying to leave for a few years but JoePa wouldn't let him :D

I'm not sure who would even take him.

The only real blow so far is losing Redd.

Buckley kind of hurts too, if the starter goes down.

Any idea if the NCAA will allow them to host their own bowl game in Hawaii? I really hope so because I don't deserve not seeing my team play :(

It sucks being outlawed by the NCAA and your own conference. Paterno is both a legend and a leader and yet the big 10 turns its back on us.

Why would the NCAA allow them to host their own bowl game? I'm sure they could, but any NCAA team would be forbidden to compete in it I would assume. I guess they could play the local highschool team.

lol. I'm not sure why you expected otherwise. Of course the big 10 turned it's back on PSU. Until the public outrage dies down, then they'll happily return to collecting all the money that PSU brings in.

Lol. There is a house that I drive by on my way to work (in Los Angeles) with a big Penn State flag and it's been egged several times. I'm not condoning the behavior - just pointing out all of the US has turned its back on Penn State.

Who's leaving? Redd and the starting QB, and anyone else?

That's the start. It takes one star to leave to make another think "Damn, without him we're gonna suck, I guess I better jump out too". And he tells two friends and so-on and so-on and so-on. A bunch of guys who were on the fence hoping the stars wouldn't leave will see this as a sign that it's time to get off the fence.

Lupi and other PennState fans, what is your thoughts on Redd transferring to USC?

Seems some fans are understanding, and wishing him luck at USC, while others view him as a traitor and wish him bad luck at USC.

I am hopefully that most of the PSU fans wish Redd good luck, and all of the other kids that move on to other schools, luck in other programs and with future endeavors.

Unfortunately their seems to be a cult of personality in the "happy valley" that idolizes a protector/denier.

There are PSU alum out here that understand this, and are actively working to restore the reputation of PSU. Unfortunately, there are some Joe Pa cultists out there that refuse to see the obvious.

ah, so now "we" don't care about the kids, and just want to drag PSU through the mud?

:D

what story will you be convincing yoruself of next week, how to spin this in yet another direction just so you don't cry yourself to sleep at night?

as an update--what do you now think about your earlier comments regarding your beloved ball coach, now that the Freeh report pretty much details everything the rest of us were saying from the beginning.

You people will believe what you wanna believe. I will stick to what I know over my two years at PSU and what JoePa did over 50 years stressing education over football victories. I will take those fact over some bureaucrats with some emails and bunch of opinions with little fact to support his opinions. And how all of the sudden JoePa is this big monsters who only care about football and nothing else, never mind about the #1 graduation rate he accomplished over his life.

Anyhow, go on with your feeding frenzy with Freeh report as the pile of blood thrown into the shark tank. Have your good time bashing a good school and their students and alumni. Whatever make your life a bit meaningful, like I give a fvck.

Reality really sucks, doesn't it?

Guess hiding your head in the sand is much more preferable than admitting the truth that a college football coach gained, over time, so much power that he dictated much of how the university he worked for ran. And that power lead to a football-first focus from the uni. and the administration, much to the detriment of a bunch of children.

Deny all you want, but the Freeh Report, an investigation that Penn State commissioned (few seem to remember that little point), is not just a bunch of opinions from bureaucrats. The email trail, that rather pesky evidence they found, clearly demonstrates that the football program seemed to carry more influence than it should have, esp. from JoePa. It may be difficult to accept, but the facts are there.

JoePa lied about knowing about the sexual predator in his Grand Jury testimony. That in itself should be horrifying, but then to find out JoePa knew about Sandusky's "problem" for a long time and just hid it to keep the football program "clean" appearing is appalling.

But believe what you will. There will always be the tin foil hat wearers out there....just remember, Reynolds Wrap is much better for that use than WalMart tin foil. More durable and thicker---works better at deflecting those pesky facts and truth.

BTW.....as for this assertion:
....the #1 graduation rate he accomplished over his life.

Sorry, Penn State doesn't have the #1 grad. rate, not even in their own conference----Northwestern has that. Don't forget Notre Dame has a higher football player grad. rate than Penn State ( and always has). Also, remember Stanford, Vanderbilt, Duke, Rice, BC (among others) all consistently out-graduate Penn State.

In fact, in 2011, Penn State dropped out of the top ten BCS schools with the highest grad. rates for football players.

True, it's great Penn State consistently graduated most of its players, but it's not #1, and isn't #1......or #10.

Actually the freeh report is a bunch of opinions as they talked with almost no actual people given that they were either dead or informed by their lawyers not to speak to them.

I don't blame anyone for leaving, especially the guys with NFL prospects.

While there were certainly opinions in it, there were alot of emails and other documents to back them up.

I'm not sure how much backing up those materials were as compared to being the source to form opinions, which is why after two or three grand juries so few people have been indicted.

LOL. If Paterno was still alive, he'd be dealing with perjury issues.
