Chinese doctors say they successfully transplanted a penis on a man who lost his own in an accident, but had to remove it two weeks later because of psychological problems experienced by the man and his wife.

The case appears to be the first such transplant reported in a medical journal?European Urology, published by the European Association of Urology.

The Chinese doctors could not be reached for comment, and their report does not explain how the 44-year-old man lost his penis. It says only that "an unfortunate traumatic accident'' left him with a small stump, unable to urinate or have sex normally.
Ouch. That's just sad for him... then again, how could you be OK with getting someone else's penis? Ew.

To me it just looks like it was unsuccessful and they don't want to admit it...

Sucks for the guy though

Agreed. "It was successful, but we had to remove it due to complications." Isn't that the same as "unsuccessful?"

he'd never be able to jerk it again lest he be labeled gay. (not that there's anything wrong with that, he just may not like it.)

LOL! It's always the side effects you DON'T think of that are the worst.

That's the first thing that I thought of. I'm guessing from another "traumatic accident".

Did the transplanted phallus like... possess his soul with that of the previous owner?

Maybe the original owner was gay and since all guys think with their penis, it was making the guy do other guys?

I suppose I could understand...I mean, if I looked down and saw this 12" black thing swinging between my legs, I'd have psychological problems, too.

Hmm... I wonder if the transplanted penis ever worked properly. That article is lacking in some details there.

"psychological problems experienced by the man and his wife"

I think if it was working right they wouldn't have psychological problems. Maybe it started moving on its own... wait it does that anyways. Well who knows.

We're sorry sir... Our worst fears have been confirmed... Our post-op tests show that, frankly, you will never be manly enough to wield such a fine, robust specimen of love muscle as that with which we have endowed you. Its really for the best if we consider replacing it with something more... ummm... modest. We feel sure that you will understand.

I read a different article on this (Reuter's). They said the penis came from a braindead 20 something. The penis was 4". He was able to urinate with it, but they did not say if he could have intercourse with his wife or not. I'm guessing not, as they probably would have mentioned if he could get an erection. The article quoted "psychological reasons" on behalf of both the husband and wife as the motive for removing the transplant.

There had been no signs of the 10-centimetre (4-inch) organ being rejected by the recipient's body. But Hu said more cases and longer observation are needed to determine whether sexual sensation and function can be restored.

"The patient finally decided to give up the treatment because of the wife's psychological rejection, as well as the swollen shape of the transplanted penis" Hu added.

The truth is that they got it from a Tibetan who had reached enlightenment and the penis kept attaining detachment thus causes emotional problems for the wife ;)
