pencils grease and heat???

If I remove the heat sink (TAI-SOLI) on my TBIRD 1.0
in order to connect the L1 bridge and thus unlock the
multiplier....

Do I need to get another piece of that band-aid like
thermal tape (if so where do I get it) or should I
apply a dolup of thermal paste/grease to the afore
mentioned heatsink instead? Oh yeah, if I should use
thermal grease, how much is a dolup?

thermal grease generally yields better cooling.
As for a dolup, you should spread it evenly on the core of the processor with the width of about a sheet of paper

Arctic Silver has a newer compound out now...Arctic Silver 2. Supposed to have less breakdown at higher temps. As though it wasn't good enough already.

As for the little Band-Aid...ditch it.
