<<But here in the US, we have a permit (learners license) for 6 months. You are allowed to drive with an adult over 25 who has a full license. If you do anything bad, its a suspession, and depending on how bad it is, until your 18. And after the 6 months, you get a restricted licenese. At least i think thats what its called. Basicly its a license that says you cant drive between certian hours, and cant carry passengers under 25...>>
What state are you in? In Ohio we (now) have to have 50 hours of driving on the temps with a licensed adult driver (ie 18+) and driver's ed, then we get our full license. There's no required time on the temps, you just need to get 50 hours in behind the wheel not counting driver's ed. I think that 16-18 might be restricted between 01:00 and 05:00, but I'm not sure. It's all academic for me since I was grandfathered and I did not have to deal with any of that. My process four years ago was get temps, take driver's ed, get full non-restricted license. Didn't have any required hours for the temps at all. 🙂 As for the penalties, in Ohio it's an automatic suspension of the license until you turn 18. Not at all sure about Canada. Actually in the US is you wait until you're 18, you don't need driver's ed or the 50 hours anymore.
