I use pencil 90% of the time, and almost always when I'm at school.

.5mm lead only.

Same here. I take about 3-4 pages of notes per day, and they look awful if I can't erase.

I used to fellate Sanford on every chance I got. I love the Uni-Ball series, and always will, not to mention Sharpies. That all changed when I found the Pilot G-2. I have never found a writing device so entwined with human spirit before.

Pencil. I'm a screwup and like to hide some of it;).

Whiteout is too annoying, and no more scratching.

I need the friction of a pencil. I use a mechanical pencil, you need an option for 'mechanical pencil'.

Pens. I hate dicking around with erasers. If I make a mistake I'll just scribble the things out. far faster than reaching for an eraser and do some precision erasing and hope it doesn't smudge up the whole thing. Pencil writing gets smudged up anyway after some normal usage. Pen's got better contrast too. For exams I always had enough working paper to scribble all I want. If you had limited space I could see pencil being pretty much required though. Or for drawing.. can't really beat a pencil for that.

Normally a pen. But when I lived in Alaska and had to take notes outside with clients pens would freeze... so outdoors in arctic conditions... pencil.
