Hi guys - I need some help with peltier cooling. I was just investigating something. If I bought a Silverprop 172 W unit, and used it with a 109W cpu, with a Thermaltake SOnic tower with 2 120mm fans, would it work?

you may get condensation problems.. and the hot end of the peltier will put out way more heat than a cpu, which is why they are normally used with watercooling. You should read about it.

I'm not an expert on petlers but the heat sink would have to dissipate at least 172 watts of heat. For that much heat you almost need water cooling.

I dont know for sure of course.. but i beleive the hsf would have to dissipate the power used by the peltier AND the power output by the processor. It may not be the sum of the two, but i would think it is higher than either of them

Yep, either a VERY loud aircooling setup, or a GOOD watercooling setup is NECESSARY to prevent condensation/thermal death/what-have-you
