New indoor exercise bike called RE:GEN. Two basic ideas:

1. Recharges a USB battery
2. Gaming - head-2-head battles, racing, and Zwift

Neat. Hopefully it's not a zillion dollars lol.

looks great but im a tiny bit skeptical about a "average workout charging a iphone 14 times. maybe they really put some tech into the generation. maybe it should say the "average Olympian work out" heheh

They should market it in the Walking Dead. 5 years post-apocalypse & some dude is still playing Nintendo Wii off his fancy bicycle lol.

The average fit person can easily generate a couple hundred watts for an hour or two on a bike. So depending on this thing’s power conversion efficiency, I believe it. The limiting factor would be how much power the phone itself allows the battery to take to charge. Maybe it has multiple outputs so you can charge all devices at once, or an internal fast charging battery to soak up energy? Cool idea, anyway

It’s kind of funny to think about the human efficiency factor for power generation on this thing. 200W for an hour is a decent workout for 0.2 kWh produced. Let’s say that results in 700 kcal burned (educated guess, depends on fitness level). 4184 Joules per kcal and 3600 seconds per hour -> 0.82 kWh worth of “food energy” burned. 25% efficiency isn’t bad at all! No wonder the machines in the matrix use humans for their power plants.

That's pretty cool. I remember toying with the idea of converting an old bike into an exercise bike and having it generate power but never ended up doing it. Could be cool to have a setup like that in an emergency actually.

There's some folks living in a cave in France for 40 days & their only source of light is pedal driven power.
