It's possible the Senate and the Supreme Court will let this stand. The Republicans aren't going to defy this Republican President. So Trump will probably be able to start construction of his wall by stealing the money from the armed forces.

Don't forget this is the same guy who thought he got to keep the money that wasn't spent while the government was shut down.

Trump's supporters will believe this is a great thing. Because Trump will tell them to believe that. These people's heads are filled with misinformation and agitprop. They've got 'em all hopped up about this "invasion", about imaginary gun confiscation, imaginary Soviet-style totalitarianism (because, Democrats want the country to look like Venezuela, they're just so villainous). The divide is hard to bridge because people are encouraged to live in a fantasy world.

In the long run, this probably is going to end up as another failure for Trump. He can probably divert enough money to get a wall started but he's not going to be able to complete it without a lot more money from Congress and the House isn't going to approve it. So Trump will spend five billion dollars or more on Russian steel that will mostly sit unused and build a three mile long section of the wall and it'll stop there. It'll accomplish nothing except to be a standing demonstration of Trump's inability to get things done.

This is a classic Caesar move- declare emergency, destroy separation of powers, do away with that pesky legislative approval process, end up in a permanent state of emergency. McConnell seems to be participating in putting an end to the separation of powers. The whole GOP is just nodding along, playing dumb while the structure of our government is eroded. Top Republicans are acting like they no longer need to be concerned over being held accountable by the citizenry.
 
If Republicans aren't going to do their constitutional duty then perhaps it's time for some 2nd amendment remedies? Or does that only apply to democrat presidents?

I mean, if we are going to let traitors destroy our democracy then shouldn't non democratic remedies be on the table?

what we're trying to get through your thick skull is that once trump did this and if it stands any president, r or d, can use what ever excuse he wants to declare an emergency.

Most are sanctions. I believe the last military NE was after 9/11. This is exactly the same right?

How many declared emergencies were not necessary and announced by the President to be such? One. "This is an emergency" and "I didn't have to do this I just don't want to wait" are irreconcilable to any sane rational mind.

You would think that after all these years of the Republicans complaining about border security that they would recognize what border security actually looks like. Apparently not though because if the Democrats aren't giving trump money for a wall then the dems obviously don't support border security, despite the fact that the dems have consistently offered funds for border security.

Please explain then, why your party's politicians, the REPUBLICAN politicians, the Republican President in Office right now, along with the Republican Controlled Senate and the Republican controlled House, WHY did they for the TWO YEARS they held control and the ability to ACT on this TERRIBLE EMERGENCY, did they DRAG THEIR FEET?
