On this link read malicious uses of p2p. I know we all know p2p has viruses. But one in particular is where you download a file and its embedded with malware and it changes your shared directory to your hard drive. So now your hard drive is available for browsing and downloading on that said p2p network. I have noted a few articles from tiversa stating the same thing. But they also say all p2p shares your hard drive by default. So their word wasn't ever reliable. I noticed that article I linked was in 2003? So I'm assuming if this existed then it sure don't know. As anyone heard of or seen this. Does it still exist? You would think there are better ways than sharing your personal info for everyone to download.

Napster was indeed directory share. Bittorrent doesnt operate the same way.

Nothing stops you from opening malware though. Your machine can become wide open that way.

P2P is seeing these days New life (beyond Pirating and pRon 2 pRon).

The need for bandwidth is so volatile that a good fast scalable system is needed. For the time being p2p protocol provides it well.

Microsoftand Apple (as well as other top providers) recently started to provides some services using p2p.

As long as you use Vetted Apps and legit contented there is No reason for "Scare".

Yes now days are a lot better. I used limewire which was folder share. And I used the default settings which created a sub folder of limewire for you share folder. Nothing personal was shared by default. But I guess there was a malware that would change your share folder to the entire hardrive? No one on the Internet really Says anything about it except Symantec and it was dated in 2003. I'm assuming when I used it in 2008 there was far more advanced malware haha
