Hi, I have two notebook PCs and both has PCMCIA network card build in but one of them don't have IrDA wireless connection so I can't use IrDA to transfer files between these two notebook PCs... since both has Ethernet network card, I'm just wondering if there is any software that I could just hook up two PC using network cable (not LL3 cable via printer port) and could allow these two PCs to transfer files between each other? Any software could do this?? Thanks!

Use a crossover cable, place both computers in the same workgroup, and either enable guest or create accounts matching the user on the other computer. You can then share directories or drives and either map them or go through network neighborhood.

do you have to custom made this "cross-over" cable or a regular category-5 cable will do just fine? Thanks!

OK, you will have to get a "crossover cable" NOT regular UTP. Regular UTP is wired "straight through". You can get a crossover cable at nearly any computer store or even Office Depot and similar places.

Just use the networking built in to Windows, I'm assuming that's what you are using.

Make sure you write down any existing network settings so you can set it back up the way it was.....

Use cross over cable and Microsoft oS Net beui protocol on both laptops and you will be good.
