"Actor Paul Reubens Pleads Guilty in Obscenity Case."

Actor Paul Reubens, otherwise known as Pee-Wee Herman, pled guilty to possessing obscene material, a misdemeanor. He was sentenced to three years of informal probation that requires him to stay away from children.

I don't see why he would be charged with possessing obscene material as long as he wasn't displaying it out in public if he wants to have obscene material in his home he should be able to.

The material Paul Reubens possessed was early 20th century photos of naked children, as I understand it. It seems the government's contention was, no matter how old the material was, it still constitutes child porn. Under federal law, no one is allowed to posses pictures of underage children.

Why was this post placed in "Off Topic" from the News Forum? This is current news, it happened a hour before I posted it. If AnandTech doesn't want this topic to be posted in their News Forum, I'll post copies everywhere else. Is the AnandTech moderator a Paul Reubens fan and doesn't want this info posted?
