No proof of it yet but the deal is 4 years/56 million. I don't like it one damn bit...and if it happens the first of Omar's Dominican Mafia will now show up at Shea.

edit: make that 2 members of Omar's Dominican Mafia.. the other being Pedro's little buddy, Mahow Mahow.

FINALLY!! someone going TO the NL. As a fantasy leaguers who uses NL teams only in our league, the exodus of quality players to the AL over the last few years was starting to get to me.

fyi... heard it on the local radio station here in boston

I am keeping a close eye on all the Winter Meetings. Trust me, he's going to NYM.

Now let's sign Hudson in his stead!

I heard the same thing on the Dan Patrick show. Sounds like Boston is saying "Go.."

If they get Pedro then they only need someone to play first, corner outfielders, work in Kaz at 2nd, another starter and help in the bullpen. And that?s it.

Pedro just won it all; I hope he has a lot of fun in the cellar.

To get Hudson, they'd have to trade Bronson Arroyo and prospects. I think this is a BIG MISTAKE. Arroyo has developed and emerged. Sure Hudson is a great pitcher, but I'm not sure I'd want him even straight-up for Arroyo.

Are the Red Sox even in the hunt for Hudson? I'm hearing the only teams Billy Beane is considering trading Hudson to are the Dodgers, Cardinals, and the Orioles. Those 3 teams seem to have the prospects Beane is looking for.

I heard there was a possible deal that had ManRam going to the Mets for either Matsui or Floyd. The Mets would have to pick up a big chunk of ManRam's salary too.

I don't think that this deal is official yet. Anyways, the $14 million/year deal is overpaying him a little, but Pedro is still one of the best pitchers in the game. It's a pretty high risk (injury/durability), high reward type of deal for the Mets.

If they get Pedro then they only need someone to play first, corner outfielders, work in Kaz at 2nd, another starter and help in the bullpen. And that?s it.

Well as of right now their corner OF are probably Floyd (LF) unless he is traded as there are some rumors about him. If Pedro signs with the Mets then their pitching rotation would be full - Pedro, Glavine, Benson, Zambrano, Trachsel.

Even with this signing the Mets are going to be pretty bad unless they make a couple of other signings.

If Hudson doesn't agree to an extension, then dealing Arroyo may be a mistake... but Hudson is definitely a better pitcher than Bronson.

Is that all?? There's more... they need a shortstop who will play more than 10 games a season, a new catcher to replace the aging Pizza man, MAJOR help in the bullpen, an actual bench.. "Super" Joe McEwing does not qualify as a bench player.

Now..if they do get Pedro the rotation would be as follows:

Pedro
Glavine
Benson
Zambrano
Trachsel

ok..so thats not really too bad and I could see Pedro feasting on the weaker DH-less National League. Unfortunately, the Mets have NO power and very poor offense. oh well...
