Unreal that this POS would do this publicly, especially after all that Boston has done to give him "special treatment". I hope a line drive hits this ungrateful shthead in the eye! F$*# you Pedro!!

how many great seasons has schilling had? how many for Pedro?

if you put their careers side by side, Pedro is the HOFer, Schilling is a borderline HOFer at best.

Schilling and Johnson (with RJ being the superior pitcher) won the WS. Schilling and a LOT of players (for the red sox) won another WS. pedro was part of that btw.

before schilling went to arizona, he spent years being a marginally good pitcher.
 
Wow, what a dirtbag. Boston made a great move by not paying up for him, and this just reinforces that. No class at all, not to mention his arm is rubber after 7 innings.

pedro was not at his best in the road to the world series, when he came in for relief he got hit, he didnt show me anything in the post season. Sub par season for Pedro. Shilling was the work horse in the playoffs, he showed me a lot more heart than Pedro working through that ankle. He pitched better this year than Pedro, deserves the 1 slot.

greg maddox year after year showed himself to be a mediocre pitcher in the post season, with smoltz and sometimes even glavine showing him up. but does that mean that maddux wasn't the best pitcher of his era? not even close. shoot, those ten years when maddux was at his prime is enough to get him in the HOF. maddux dominated MLB in his prime.

post season is too short to really judge a players caliber.

i think Shilling has earned the 1st slot in the rotation. Even if you disregard statistics, his attitude is better, he doesnt start controversy like Pedro and goes out and does what he has to do. IMO, I like Shilling a whole hell of a lot more than Pedro. Im not saying Pedro is a bad pitcher, hes a good pitcher with a bad attitude.

Mets will win a WS again before the Red Sox, hell, considering how poorly the red sox offseason is going we'll probably have a better season next year. Whos your opening day pitcher, Wells? Nice. Sox fans are so bitter.

There have been complaints from RJ about schilling, Pedro isn't the first person to say something.
 
No but I'd remember Maddox's philosophy on pitching or Smoltz's bad attitude (not saying he has one). Most people will remember how great of a year Maddox had and flopped in the playoffs, or a decent year that Smoltz had but pulled it together in the playoffs.

As for what I'd remember about this year, how gutsy Shilling's performances were in the playoffs, and how ungrateful Pedro Martinez was about being a part of a great organization who won the World Series. It shouldnt be about what position you have in the starting rotation, how bout making history, being part of something great, something people would remember.


Apparently his own arrogance got the best of him, so send him to NY, I could care less, get rid of Ramirez too. Boston would be out a couple of good players but overall attitude around the clubhouse would improve ten fold.

that's pretty sad that you know manny like that. all that talk of trading him etc in the offseason and he comes to down and does his thing. doesn't let it phaze him a bit, not like that loser Nomah.

but, no one will ever understand the mind of a red sox fan.
 
Ah.. yes.. first day as a Met and he causes some controversy already. Should be a fun season..except for the losing of course. Love how he says just put Piazza at first or elsewhere and get 'Tek cause he's a good catcher. LOL.. already he craps on Piazza...awesome..I just hope he stays healthy enough and we Mets fans get 50 million bucks worth of Pedro-isms.

Wonder whats next.. Nelson de la Rosa chasing Anna Benson on the field?

Pedro's a character, He speaks his mind and while he may not always be correct, he does tell it like he sees it. I'm not sure how well he'll do next season... I think he's got some strength left in him, but, with a 4yr contract I don't think he's going to go all out next year. I imagine he'll have another few weeks off around allstar break. Just a hunch. Even then, he'll probably help the Mets out quite a bit... I'm sure they know what they got in him.

Ever since the ALCS last year, we saw his true character come out, and throughout this season, I was convinced he wasn't loyal/dedicated to the Sox.

And while the question drew a sharp response from the pitcher, Martinez later said, ``I'm way over Schilling as a pitcher'' and defended criticisms of his workout program by saying, ``Schilling cannot run with me.''

Schilling acknowledged that playing with Martinez, who was very much on his own program, required an adjustment on his part and that of teammates.

``He came and went as he pleased. That was something very different for me and something I'd never seen before,'' Schilling said. ``I had to be kind of walked along by the hand with how I dealt with that because I wasn't sure how I was supposed to. There were times during the year when I wondered where he was.

``He left the game the first start of the season in the middle of the game,'' continued Schilling, referring to Martinez' departure on Opening Day in Baltimore. ``What does that say about the respect he has for his teammates? He wasn't there for Game 6 of (the American League Championship Series). I don't remember what his explanation was.''

And to not be with the team for Game 6 vs the Yankees is inexcusable, BS he had to get ready for Game 7 to come out of the bullpen. Everyone bullpen pitcher on that team was tired, overworked, and yet they still were there rooting for their teammates in the dugout, why didn't they have to "get ready for Game 7"? Pedro is a punk btch whose arm/puny frame, selfish attitude, and loyalty only to money, that will let the Mets down in the end. Good luck Met fans, at least you know what type of person you've signed now. Good riddance!
