Pedants and grammar nazis are idiots who don't know anything about language.

They won't be maintained, there is no universal standard for language it is changing every day, what words mean now will be different in 10 years in some cases. Or 2 months in others.

So, you think it's acceptable for books, speeches and, art to be unintelligible within a few months to ten years? We should embrace reinventing the wheel, not to mention society, every decade? Ever see Idiocracy?

Language doesn't change enough for it to be unintelligible that quickly. You can't put you foot in the same river twice and it's the same for language. "The English Language" when I was born is different to "The English Language" now. New words are written into the dictionary every year and old ones are thrown out, it is the way of things.

He's not using it incorrectly, he's evolving it to mean what he wants it to mean.

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response - Wikipedia

It's from South Park you stupid fuck. GTFO and learn some internet culture, fuckhead.

You're completely missing the point of the time it takes for changes to occur then and now. You've done it twice. Do you not see the difference between the changes you have observed in your lifetime and the changes within the last couple of years? Are you unable to see the forest for the trees? Why am I surprised by a Brit who spends so much time online, he has an American "voice" when posting? Try really hard to step outside and look at language like an alien visiting from another planet.

I just see new technology being invented, requiring new words and terms being coined so quickly that a word can be created in january and be a common word by december.

What about tweakboy's posts. Are the a superstrain of language evolution? Because sometimes I cannot decipher a single sentence, or even the general point he is trying to make at all. Where is the limit?

If you think you know more about the English language you are a moran.

That made me laugh! :D

As others have undoubtedly pointed out, there's a big difference between deviations from the norm that are purposeful and enhance the conveyance of meaning, and those deviations that are thoughtless and only serve to impede communication.

I'll let you decide what kind of deviation "moran" is.

Yes, we all make spelling mistakes. I've posted more than a few myself. Not the end of the world by any means, but also certainly not something to be proud of.

I'm still chuckling... :)

Why can't moran be both? They guy who originally wrote it was quite stupid, but his "mistake" has led to countless lulz in the short time since he wrote that sign. That dumb, dumb bandanna wearer has improved society and the English language more than most posters on this board.

So, his sign displayed his stupidity, but it was not "incorrect." It was AWESOME.
